because society did USED to shame women. and it was much better for society and family. yeah, I live in a country where prostitution is legal and the age of consent is 17. it's actually a better system. first, men that are forced to marry for family or to keep wealth among two families, can always at least easily see a hot whore for some relief from his shitty wife. Second, it put a premium on virgins, or sheltered women. they are of course still incredibly rare, as any girl with a cell phone can be a whore now, but there is a bit more importance on virginal and protected women when a large % of the women are whores. third, it gives women a great way to make $. uneducated women can easily make enough $$ to retire if they work age 18-22. 4 VERY tough years to live a very relaxed life. not that bad of a deal.
what you also see is just how transactional marriage is. in a country where whores are easy, cheap and hot, it means people only get married for other reasons, usually money and social status. it might seem more cut throat, but to me it seems more honest. i'd rather both families be honest that this entire marriage is based around money and having kids to continue the family name instead of a "marriage for love" like the USA tries to sell which is a complete lie and always falls apart once the whore gold digging wife mind takes over.
