I would say going at war with another side isn’t exactly heroic. Having indifference and shooting guns at each other is nothing more than a conflict of interest. I do understand the reasoning behind wars, but it’s unfortunate that people of today have to rely on it to solve issues. I’m not saying there are better solutions and I have no alternative solution, but it doesn’t really change the fact of the matter. Human nature is disastrous.

The argument could be made the Japanese military/honor society is masculinity gone too far, and The nazis have been associated with toxic masculinity.
This photo is obviously of the good guys, tough men who fought against a dug in enemy on the cursed island of Iwo Jima....but their heroism became a necessity out what can easily be (mis-categorized and grossly oversimplified) described as “toxic masculinity”.
