NEVER care what they "want" or what they claim to want... there is no point in it, they will NEVER be satisfied or happy... arguably especially if you give them what they claim to "want."

Guys, I'll tell you a trick to know when a woman lies. It's very effective, I promise.
When is she lying? When she opens her mouth.
[β]DWShimoda11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
This is true... but it's not the be all and end all.
Women are quite capable of lying even when they're not actually talking: they also lie using makeup, clothing, TXT messages, "seflies" and so on...

You are right sir, I have underestimated the infinite skill women have at lying

Part of this is the left just blindly hating on everything Trump does, which is still really funny.
And of course part of this is how women literally can never be satisfied and they'll bitch about everything.
If we actually lived in a patriarchal (i.e. balanced) society, and if a woman started spouting retarded bullshit, you tell her "No" and ignore her.
[β]jstrockmeyer11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
So how does this hurts women???
I had paid paternity leave, 1 month, dafuck this hurt anybody is over me.
[β]OatsGYOW23 points24 points25 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Encourages women to have babies.
Women who have babies tend to be undesirable employees. They drop work for months at a time, need extra accommodations, and their schedule becomes less flexible.
Men are objectively better employees for this fact alone.

Well, that I get, and its true: Where I had one month, my ex had 4 months + 1
[β]rainydistress2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's funny how this and all the metoo shit is probably actually leading to less chances of women getting better jobs. Yes, there's diversity quotas and shit, but what the executives really give a fuck about is whether the company works well, not whether some feminist bitches made a 92-tweet long thread about how their company doesn't hire enough women. So I'm sure they'll find ways around it.

Whats paid family leave?
[β]Maximum_Afternoon11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
It's when you have a baby, and you essentially get some number of weeks of vacation just for that. usually maternity leave you hear about more often, that's just for the mother. Family leave is code for this also applies to fathers in whatever particular company is being discussed.
[β]omg_ppl_are_stupid8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I'm totally for this as a society. Men and women are different, and women truly do deserve sometime for having a child. This would be the polite thing to do. As long as we acknowledge there are differences between men and women i'm all for this. But as it sits right now, i'm against it until men get paid wife leave. Every few years while married you get paid to go on vacation where your wife is required not to be there.
[β]roflcopt0rz_returns10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Or, the simpler and cheaper solution is to get any woman who was a diversity hire and doesn't belong there and isn't qualified for the job (read: most women) out of there and back to the kitchen, then nobody has to go on leave. (Obviously, kick out any useless men too)
Any woman who wants to climb the corporate ladder is free to do so, just won't be able to have kids because work will take up all her time, and companies shouldn't be forced to give free money to someone that's going to go on vacation for months. Just like how a man isn't granted free vacation when his wife had a baby. LIterally true equality. Having children isn't a right, it's a choice you make, and you accept both the benefits and consequences that go with it.
The irony is that most women don't WANT to work, because work is a soul-sucking job. Most women just go to work because they want to find a husband at her work who can support her and then she quits her job. Cut the middle man out of the equation and everyone is actually happier, women just don't want to admit it.
Just ask any woman who is married, "If we assume your husband makes enough money to support you and your family by himself, and if we assume that outside and societal pressures are ignored, would you personally rather continue to work your job or stay at home and take care of the kids?" Women want to be at home with the kids, there are just other factors (e.g. feminism) that push them into the workforce, so get rid of those factors and everyone is happier.

companies shouldnβt be forced to give free money.
Why am I not surprised that no one here understands what parental leave actually is. Itβs paid for by the government, not the employers. Companies do not lose out at all.
[β]RelativeExcuse50 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Youβre against maternal leave because you think itβs like a vacation? What the hell kind of education are you guys getting?
[β]omg_ppl_are_stupid0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
No... You're obviously not from around here. I'm for maternal and paternal leave. But the way the system of society is setup currently is fucked and men get the shit can in the USA on every level. No paid paternal leave, or any leave for that matter. Men then get their children stripped from them at the bounce of a fucking word from the mother even though it's not ever corroborated at all. I'm for a more healthy family style of things. But the way things are right now..... is just fucked in so many ways.
[β]RelativeExcuse50 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Iβm from Australia, and we have both maternal and parental leave of 18 weeks. Maternal leave can extend passed that, but you get less of your salary.
I definitely agree that there should be both paternal and maternal leave, but if it is only going to be one (for whatever reason), then it needs to be maternal. It just does.
A lot of people are calling maternal leave a holiday here, and that could not be further from the truth.
[β]omg_ppl_are_stupid0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ohh yeah, it's not a holiday, not one bit. I have two children, i get it. But here in the USA we get nothing, and culturally men are expected to just go back to work like nothing has changed. It's kinda fucked up in many places.
Well, also the whole "Family Leave" concept is usually MUCH MORE EXTENSIVE than simple "Maternity Leave."
Maternity Leave often is just allowing the woman to take a brief (possibly paid, but just as likely unpaid) "leave of absence" from a job (typically 2 to 4 weeks total) with some level of guarantee that their job (or some similar/equivalent position, similar work, identical pay) will be "open" for them to return to.
Family Leave is usually meant to be PAID leave (like paid vacation, or paid "sick leave", but IN ADDITION to any normal "vacation/sick" time provision), in most cases it envisions a significantly LONGER period of time -- anywhere from 2 to 6 months -- and is (at least ostensibly) to be made available to both the "mother" and the "father" of any child (though the latter becomes rather problematic when the couple is NOT married; plus potentially other "co-parent/spouse" {i.e. lesbian/gay couples})... and in some states also includes provisions for "adoption" (and even "foster") scenarios as well as actual direct pregnancy/birth situations.
[β]RelativeExcuse50 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
get some number of weeks of vacation
Let me tell you, thatβs the stupidest thing Iβve ever heard. Itβs not a vacation moron, itβs time for a mother to care for a NEW BORN BABY.
You know what a mother is doing for the first 3 months of a childβs life? Feeding. Every 2 hours, youβre breast feeding your child so that it can live. Thereβs no time for βvacationingβ, thereβs barely any time to shower. Or sleep. Or make yourself food to keep yourself alive. Because babies are DEMANDING. And they need 24 hour care.
And you usually hear more about maternal leave because mothers are the ones that feed the child. In Australia we get 18 weeks paid parental leave (maternal and paternal), so it can be a joint effort. But you need maternal leave as a bare minimum just so you can keep the child alive.
[β]Maximum_Afternoon1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Jesus, #triggered. Yeah I know what mothers do, I have kids. There's no functional difference between vacation, leave, time off, sick time, or whatever to any of the other employees still at work. You're just not there.
[β]RelativeExcuse5-1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There is definitely a difference. Parental leave is covered by the government, not by the employer like leave is.
Youβre just not there
No, but usually you are replaced temporarily.
