LOL, and rightly so.

BTW, I myself have fond memories from my youth, riding hither an yon -- over the river and through the woods -- on various old low CC bikes (Hondas & Suzuki's etc).

First main one was a Honda Super Cub -- circa 1960 US model (and back then it was actually NOT yet "old" even if mine was "used") -- usually w/o the splashguard/fairing (which just got in the way for off-road trail-riding) ... talk about a workhorse... and talk about excellent gas mileage!

Then as series of other bikes... and last -- a 1973 Honda CL-100 "Scrambler" (twin to the one in this pic) -- which I actually managed to get my hands on again a few years ago from family that had it stored... and need to get around to refurbing one of these days (tank needs cleaning/seal, probably new carb, obviously new tires, battery, etc).

10mm is also a less popular firearm round developed by the FBI when 9mm parabellum wasn't enough firepower. After review of the 1986 FBI Miami-Dade Shootout.. Its powerful enough for many to consider it valid for bear defense, people deer hunt with it etc... but it still can be loaded into a semiautomatic loading handgun and fit in your hand like a .45 ACP. Vs like magnum caliber rounds.

Many believe 10mm to be the most superior handgun round despite its scarcity. Its growing in popularity but .380, 9mm, .45 ACP are still chosen more often by the masses.

But in the popular firearm subs around here everyone knows best mm means 10mm. It's funny that seems to ring true for sockets too.

Edit: fun fact. The .40 S&W is just a shortened version of the 10mm because some thought the recoil of 10mm to be too snappy. .40 will shoot and cycle in 10mm guns although its not recommended.

When buying a 2nd hand bike, I always check the bikes toolkit for an 8mm spanner and throw a tantrum if it’s not there (and angle for a discount).

My brother was better at dirt bike riding than I was. Anecdote: We had a get-rich-quick scheme in high school. We would buy crashed bikes (mainly from insurance companies), do them up (mix ‘n match) and sell the refurbished bike through the classified ads in the paper. Once we got a 250cc vintage dirt bike (James [must be defunct because I’ve never heard of it]) from a deceased estate. We had a dirt bike race track close by. My brother would take the James every weekend, ride the shit out of it, burn out the clutch and spend a portion of the week rebuilding the clutch for the next weekend.

Sounds a lot like my pre-teen and teen summers.

And for us -- well it wasn't just entertainment -- we were out in what most people would say was the "boonies"; and at least until we were old enough to get a driver's license, they were our chief form of transportation (region was too hilly for bicycles, plus we were too distant from friends homes and other destinations to walk or peddle... but on a minibike or motorcycle, well another story -- and literally "over the river and through the woods" style riding, basically "blaze your own trail" from point A to point B, however you could.)

Was there a street version?

The CL-100 was a "street-legal" version. It was sold as a "dual sport" (or on/off road) machine... though top speed was probably around 60 to 65 mph -- and (given it was only 100cc) you had to be LIGHTWEIGHT yourself and then (assuming you had it tuned up properly) you really had to wind it out to reach/stay at those speeds -- so not really the best for a highway/cruiser bike; more of a bop around on lower speed/lower traffic city/town road kind of thing.

But and I can personally vouch for this -- also agile (& lightweight enough) for various trail riding -- again especially if you were fairly small-physical frame person/lightweight enough yourself ... the thing could basically go anywhere a motocross bike could (just had to be careful you didn't bang up the fender & bash off the blinkers, etc). Acceleration & mileage were pretty good as well -- not quite as much of a "fume sipper" as a super cub, but pretty close, depending of course on how/where you rode it, how aggressively you gunned the engine.

True. but the CL series was "dual sport" -- the key difference being what you spotted with the muffler (i.e. upswept exhaust).

The CL-100 in all other regards -- with the exception of that mid-height muffler) -- LOOKED like a "street bike": chrome fenders, fenders relatively close to the tires, etc.

Now the reality is that back at that point in time, mid-to-late 1960's early 1970's (CL-100 was produced from 1970 to 1973 IIRC), what most people now think of as a "trail bike" (i.e. or motocross) in terms of distinctive design differences was still in it's infancy, when compared to later MX bikes.

In some ways the CL-100 (aka "Scrambler") was actually a sort of precursor/grandfather to those later bikes -- sort of like "dipping a toe into the water" to test the temperature -- the viability of the market -- while also maintaining the appearance of a street bike (and of course coming standard with "street legal" turn signals, headlight, etc -- all things that most motocross bikes have to have added on as "options" and/or OEM installed accessories).

Note that there was a category of PRE-motocross bike that was called a "trail bike" -- these were invariably NOT street-legal, and were closer to what we would now call a "minibike" rather than a motorcycle or motocross -- they generally had smaller diameter significantly wider tires, much shorter seat height, etc... like the CT-70 and etc.
