This summer I took a cross country road trip. Went through several states and I noticed something. Several times on my trip, I encountered road work, where they employed flaggers, to restrict traffic to one lane, one direction, at a time, to allow cars around the work crews. I probably came across 2 dozen of these types of work zones and in all, but one of them, the flagger was a woman. I honestly don't remember seeing women in many construction zones until now. Is this part of some diversity hiring quota, that construction companies now have to follow? Are the women pretty much useless in the actual manual labor part, so they stick all of them on flagger duty?
