The manginas over at r/bitcoin are losing their shit over the "sexism" in this picture. Meanwhile, how many women do you know who are interested in cryptocurencies?
I tried talking about cryptos with this one chick recently. Total disinterest and blank stares. However, when I talk to men they have a thousand questions and want to learn as much as they can about this technology.

So basically like any investment that could potentially go to 0. Diversify. Bitcoins should be a part of your portfolio.

Well, women can't hold a conversation on abstract concepts. Try it... they fail pathetically. The longest I've been able to carry a conversation like that was just a couple of minutes. Also notice how they'll bend the conversation around to make it about them. You can pick any far-out-there topic like how stars are born in distant galaxies, and they'll turn it around within a few back-and-forth's to themselves. Women live inside their heads. They are children with no concept of a world in which they are not its centre. I would like to look at things from a woman's perspective, but it's really hard to get my head that far up my own ass.

Well, women can't hold a conversation on abstract concepts. Try it... they fail pathetically.
I remember back in uni. First year, mech. engineering. They can't grasp basic geometry concepts. 3D work and spacial awareness are so far beyond their capabilities it's not even funny. I've tried teaching a few of them to help them pass the exams, that was an exercise in futility...
I've only met two women who were able to learn on their own and they really did understand every subject as well as the best of the men did. They were the 0.01% exceptions that prove the rule.
[–]TitanFang924 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I remember trying to explain a 3 axis graph. I shoved a pencil through the middle of a paper. It was a literal model of 3d space using real objects, and the 2 girls i was tutoring did not get it.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I believe there's some scientific backing to the claim that men are better at (among most things) spacial awareness. Makes sense, cause we were the hunters and that required having an awareness of your environment. ADHD is said to be an evolutionary quirk so that men's attention always darts around and don't become tethered to a single thing for too long, making them sitting duck for other predators. This is probably why women are terrible at parallel parking, cause they can't mentally model how much space they need or to maneuver around
[–]BurningLlama17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It's almost like men try to better themselves and are curious about the world and obtaining knowledge. Meanwhile, let's see what Stephanie did on her Instagram OMG
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Jonlife5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link
Amen. Women only have an interest when the pertaining topic has to do with them. When a man is flipping his shit over "sexist" comments it only shows how much a cunt of a mother he was raised by. Men have so much estrogen pumped into them today that they're literally walking vaginas with beards (most can't even grow one)
[+][deleted] 8 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link
[–]Jonlife0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link
There are plenty of stjfhes that show men acting like pussies who have an excess of estrogen in their diets. Yes, you'll never exactly be liked them, but you'll hesitate more. You'll let them walk all over you. You'll be less likely to want to get into confrontations with women. Guys with lots of testosterone don't put up with any bullshit. Estrogen is bad bad bad for men
[+][deleted] 8 years ago* (16 children) | Copy Link
[–]Jonlife0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link
There's a difference between being aggressive on estrogen and being aggressive on testosterone. To the guy who's jacked on the proper testosterone levels you're a whiney little bitch (not you personally) when you're trying to be aggressive in your estrogen leveled state. In your eyes you probably thought you were being a masculine aggressive type, but nah. Most women will only see that as being whiney.
Now if you were punching dudes lights out and having to get wrestled down to the ground by the police in your estrogen state than I'd be really surprised. Estrogen is not good for men. It will ramp up your heart rate (and give you hot flashes lol) but you won't be able to perform physically like you would if you are on the proper testosterone levels.
[+][deleted] 8 years ago* (14 children) | Copy Link
[–]Jonlife0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
Well at least we agree that estrogen doesn't help and men should definitely avoid any and all foods that contain it. Trust me, we're bumbling idiots when we're young and testosterone is bursting through our veins. Men take crazy risks, we do dumb shit all the time, and some of us die instantly because of all the crazy stunts we do. You don't get like that via estrogen. I'm still surprised I'm alive with the way I used to drive when I was 17.
[+][deleted] 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link
[–]Jonlife0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (11 children) | Copy Link
Oh I'm not trying to say that estrogen makes women into helpless snowflakes. We all know what domestic violence looks like (women being the main aggressors of that). The term "masculine" is subjective in cases like this. Some people think being masculine is when you play violent video games, and other people think being masculine is not playing video games at all and only playing sports etc.
Depending on your upbringing and your surroundings will determine your level of "masculinity." Sadly being raised by a single mom, without a proper father figure, or a male mentor will automatically give you more estrogen regardless (perfect example is Rob Kardashian, living in a house raised by his bat shit crazy mother and sisters...he recently lashed out on Instagram over some dumb chick who played him etc, but the dude is still a cuck by default, doesn't matter how aggressive he is... No amount of estrogen will make him look/be masculine). Rob Kardashian is a masculine guy on paper...his money and status etc. Yet he's still a cuck. You follow?
Estrogen can def still fuel violence and def causes insanity in most women. Testosterone used to get a bad wrap for causing all the issues among relationships but now we know better.

Yup. People think that because of all the crypto they're untouchable by the courts. That is anything but true in practice.
Suppose you have a $300k house, $50k in misc assets, and $200k in bitcoins.
You might think the court will give each person $150k in house, $25k in misc assets, and then be frustrated and let you keep the $200k in bitcoin. That is not how it will work. The court will give you the full $200k in bitcoin, and then give your wife $250k in house and $25k in misc assets. That is, they'll trade her $100k share of bitcoin for $100k of your share of the house, leaving her with no bitcoins to mess around with.
Now, if you had $20k in misc assets between you, no house/etc, and $200k in bitcoin then the court would give your wife all $20k of the misc assets and order you to pay her $90k in cold hard cash. Then you'd have to sell half your bitcoin to give her the cash. If you didn't then the court would just lock you in jail until you did. While it is true that the court couldn't actually seize your bitcoins (if you hid the keys well enough), the court can just keep you on ice for a few years to see if you give in. They could also do things like garnish your wages and so on.
As long as your physical body is in the real world, a real world court can make you want to turn over control of your digital possessions.

That's why, "Telling your partner about your crypto networth is so dumb." If your partner doesn't know you have it, then there is a good chance you'll manage to keep it untouched.
If your partner knows you have a lot of it but isn't quite sure how much, then the lawyers and accountants will just go through all your books and try to deduce how much you have. If you've been buying it on one of the typical exchanges using your credit card or bank account directly then that will be easily traceable.
But, sure, if you're really careful about it then it could be a good way to hide assets. I'd suggest having a bunch of smaller accounts that were contributed to in different ways, so that if they do find some of it they won't find all of it. Get a credit card from some oddball bank and use that to buy your bitcoins/etc, and close those accounts and open new ones from time to time. If you can somehow run the money through cash at some reasonable rate that could also help. You want to avoid having a chain that goes from your paycheck to the currency exchange.
If you have suspicious amounts of cash disappearing a court might treat it as an asset whether they can figure out where it went or not. Hiding assets is nothing new to courts.

I've spent my career in finance. BB investment banks have parameters, like all corporations, that they must operate within. In addition, they have to deal with the SEC, which is the bitchest of bitches. Cryptos aren't recognized by the SEC yet so the establishment doesn't fuck with the liabilities.
Individual bankers are going off and starting crypto investment pools, but that is really a collection of individual investors behind one decision maker, rather than a face fucking octopus.

Unless you can buy a tank of gas with it or pay your power bill with it, bitcoin isn't worth as much as you spend for it because you can't trade it for real energy. Creating a new currency that won't be accepted by capital owners - those being the big banks since it is really the bankers who own all the infrastructure like oil companies - is really fraught with risk. People yelling about getting you to buy bitcoin while ignoring the fractional reserve banking system and their super rich families that control it all, are serving you something that will end in tears. You have to cut the head off a snake first before you start offering alternate currencies. Bitcoin is not going anywhere unless you can buy food and energy with it, and those things are controlled by people will not accept bitcoin. Oh, and women are 75 percent of the consumer economy, if they don't understand or use bitcoin, then that is all the more reason it isn't going anywhere.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
JP Morgan is currently building infrastructure on the etherium platform. There are also credit/debit cards that automatically pull and convert from digital wallets.
Any cryptocurrency control by Jp Morgan/Goldman Sachs/Rothschilds isn't really a solution. You need a currency that is 1) safe from banker manipulation and control 2) provides privacy and security from ALL thieves including governments and bankers (hard to tell those two apart these days) 3) Is accepted for payment for energy and food without exorbitant transfer costs. Bitcoin, to my knowledge provides the first 2 requirements, it doesn't provide the 3rd. As for Etherium, you can just forget about getting the first 2 aforementioned requirements from JP Morgan people, although they might throw you the 3rd one as the luring crumb.
[–]mentalidade_logica0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Bitcoin is the perfect solution for the One Corporate World Order war on cash. Just in time (relatively speaking) before the fiat dollar collapses. The problem for those people you mentioned above is that some major countries are now starting to use real gold, not energy, as a backup.
A guy in Italy was just arrested for running a bitcoin operation scam worth 4 billion bitcoins.
[–]fmanly2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You have to cut the head off a snake first before you start offering alternate currencies.
Well, there is no harm in having them, but sure, they're going to be of limited real-world value until you can actually do day-to-day transactions in them.
Bitcoin itself seems rather useless to me unless a majority of the miners accept some big changes. It has a ridiculously low maximum transaction rate. People argue that people will just do transactions in some other currency and use bitcoin for reserves, but if that other currency is superior in every way to bitcoin then people will just keep their reserves there and avoid any exchange risk.
There is no harm in researching or understanding cryptocurrencies. Going out and spending $10k on either the currency or the capital needed to mine it is a different matter.

In short its about utility value.
Gold is also mined out of the dirt and is completely useless. Its too soft to build stuff out of and you can't eat it.
Yet it is valuable and has been so for thousands of years as a medium of exchange.
[–]mentalidade_logica0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Bitcoin is mined by computers and is completely useless. Its non-tangible, can't build stuff and you can't eat it.
Yes, gold has historical proven value to it, it's purely controlled and produced by Mother Nature not by a few handful of people with powerful computers.
[–]a17c81a30 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
If anyone drifts from the principles of Bitcoin it can be forked, in fact this happened just yesterday with the creation of Bitcoin Cash.
In short no one controls Bitcoin without total consent of the users. It also runs on thousands of machines simultaneously. In other words it would survive a nuclear war.
Gold IS more reliable still of course, but also more difficult to use and easy for authorities to take from you.
[–]mentalidade_logica0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
In other words it would survive a nuclear war.
Lol! Nothing will survive the next nuclear war - nothing! (Not even the global elitists underneath their supposedly protective bunkers.)
You don't think that authorities can also control bitcoin?
By the way, I believe it was China that just created a super computer. Well, that'll be nice for bitcoin 'mining', don't you think?
[–]a17c81a30 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
The Bitcoin mining industry is already more powerful that the 500 largest super computers combined - certainly it ranks as the largest super computer already.
Whatever China built is most likely not for mining nor would it overpower existing mining equipment if it was.
That aside Bitcoin is not controlled by mining. The mining only serves as an anti-spam/consensus measure.
The actual security lies in the distributed ledger and the digital signatures.

Authorities arrested the BTC-e’s alleged founder, Russian-born Alexander Vinnik...
So? If they didn't use proper mixing while doing something illegal of that scale its their own fault.
If you rob a bank and spend the numbered cash without laundering it first you can't blame anyone other than yourself.
While killing you wouldn't give pause to socialists they will probably just forcibly confiscate it.
Crypto currency can be saved in brain wallets so that confiscation or murder offers no benefit to the attacker.

[–]cheesymold0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Something to be excited about. You will have a free bitcoins. Just like ether and there classic. Bitcoin cash is already trading in the futures for 400$.
[–]runcmc221 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
There is no such things as "free bitcoins". The amount that you have will be the same worth when it is forked. Chances are BCC will most likely be dumped anyway.
[–]cheesymold-2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
It is free. If you own bitcoin and now you get the new forked btc and the old btc. Just like ethereum classic and ethereum. You are flat out wrong. The futures of bitcoin cash are at 400$ while bitcoin is at 2700 $
[–]runcmc221 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Your total sum of bitcoins adds up to the amount of fiat worth you owned in the first place, split between the two. It's fine if you think money is going to come out of nowhere for EVERYONE who owns bitcoin. Just don't be too disappointed when the free money you think you're getting is actually lost when BCC is dumped like a truck.

Ethereum Classic is at the same price it was at the peak after the fork. So even if you held for over a year your profits would be essentially the same or close to. Same thing is going to happen to BCC, I would be amazed if anyone jumped ship simply because of 8 MB block size. If they did they would have long been in Litecoin. Ethereum itself has seen a 2000% increase in the past year. A great chunk of cash to those of us who got in at sub $10.
[–]aanarchist1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Is that a good thing or bad? I've been curious about bit coin but haven't learned much about them besides that it's an alternative currency
[–]0pt0ut5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Crypto-currencies are a tool for freedom, definitely worth learning about for any mgtow.
If you don't know anything about bitcoin, you don't really need to worry about the upcoming segwit activation or the hard fork to bitcoin cash. Since you asked about august 1st however, I'll put it as simply as I can:
Bitcoin is limited in the amount of transactions it can process per second. For years, bitcoin transactions could be sent for free, or perhaps a few cents (worth of bitcoin), because not many transactions were occurring. As bitcoin has become more popular however, transaction fees have increased. In the last few months, even a simple transaction may have taken up to $4 (worth of bitcoin) to ensure it was processed quickly.
Many different methods for scaling have been suggested, but a large percentage of the community has decided on a protocol upgrade known as 'segwit'.
Although segwit has many supporters, another percentage of the community believes scaling should be achieved differently. These users are choosing to 'fork' bitcoin, and implement a different form of scaling (increasing the bitcoin block-size). Because these two scaling methods are incompatible, this will cause two different implementations of bitcoin to exist. This second implementation of bitcoin will be known as 'bitcoin cash', while the version with segwit will most likely continue to be known as bitcoin.
If none of that makes sense to you, that's fine. As for if this is good or bad, in the short term, these changes represent uncertainty, which could result in large price fluctuations. In the long term, it should be a good thing. Over time, competition should result in a superior product, even if that product isn't bitcoin itself.
If you want to learn more about bitcoin, feel free to post questions in /r/bitcoinbeginners, or send me a message.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Do you guys think its worth getting bitcoins now? I am a student and have about 15k in savings. Do you guys reckon it would be worth punting on a couple of bitcoins?
[–]perchero2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Absolutely worth getting into, but first learn about the space. 1st August is a huge day for Bitcoin. The coin is about to hard fork into two separated currencies. Bright side is Ethereum is pretty cheap right now and it won't last long before rocketing again.
[–]cheesymold1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Not a big fan of ether, was when it was 50$ but once ether hit the mainstream it showed it's weaknesses. It's slow as hell when alot of people were using it.

If you bought a week ago you'd be up 50%. Buy on dips and hodl.
any money that you can confidently say you won't NEED it back is worth while to invest in cryptos. I had 10 bitcoins but cashed them in when some expenses got out of hand. I REALLY wish I didn't sell them now.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ethereum bro. Its down over 50% from its all time high right now. Don't put all 15k buy a little bit over time. After august 1st there will be a lot of volatility with bitcoin and you can make a better decision then once it settles.
Put your money into a real investment, not this made up currency garbage. It only functions if they get new suckers to sign up...don't listen to them.
Best performing asset class.
Bitcoin is money not controlled by banks. This matters because your money in your bank account is being loaned out by a process called 'fractional reserve banking' which creates debt.
The whole world is awash with hundreds of trillions of $ in debt and eventually you get a market crash/correction because things move in cycles and those interest payments keep going up. Bitcoin is one of the places you will want to be and its current price of $2700 reflects how many people are wanting to protect themselves.
[–]boogalooshrimp11032 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link
Can someone give me a dumbed down cliffnotes explanation of how bitcoin works?
[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link
It is basically a Ponzi scheme. People who were first to mine bitcoins have the most, and the bitcoins only have value if more people are getting into the trend. The coins have no inherent value or use. They are very similar to tulips and beanie babies.
It seems difficult to understand because there is nothing to understand. If someone told you to invest in beanie babies, The logical part of your brain would melt as it tries to understand why other people think that is a wise investment.
bitcoins only have value if more people are getting into the trend
And therein lies the reason the zealots are always trying to suck people into this long con.
Well, to be fair bitcoin does offer solutions to a couple of problems with existing currencies. The problem is that those problems are really only problems to people who have a ton of money, and the people with a ton of money have enough control over the central bank to keep those things from becoming problems. So, it is a fancy technical solution to a problem that doesn't really exist.

Same as government issued money, if nobody wants it, it fails hard
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link
Which is why governments only accept their own currency as payment of taxes, licenses, and fines. If you were to create a fiat currency that cannot be used to pay taxes or fines, you would create bitcoin. It would fall into the same category as defunct currencies like the US continental or tally sticks.
As a person who is not Japanese, would you ever think of buying Japanese yen? Why not? Probably because it has no purpose in your life. It can't pay taxes, it doesn't really buy anything, you don't need it for international trade. Is there a reason for someone to hold bitcoins over cash? If they are smuggling money, then yes. If they are just average people with average lives, the answer is no.
[–]ultrasuperthrowaway0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
The big failure in your logic is that people do buy foreign currency constantly or there wouldn't be a forex market. Think about it for awhile. Prices rise and fall and people want to make a profit.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Those currencies only have value because they are used. If Japan decided to stop accepting yen as payment for taxes, its value would drop to zero. This is not blind speculation since there are a lot more defunct currencies than there are currencies in use; this is something we have seen hundreds of times throughout history. When a currency can no longer be used for something specific, it ceases to have value.
What is a US continental worth? It's basically worthless because there is no reason to own continentals. People might buy and sell them as collectables because they become rare with time, but nobody invests in them.
[–]ultrasuperthrowaway0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
They have people because people give them Value not because they are used. Art has no real purpose yet it's valuable.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
And that becomes a property of rarity and name recognition. There is 1 Mona Lisa in the entire world, so someone might be willing to pay money for the original just so they have bragging rights. If you want a copy of the Mona Lisa, you can get it for $10 on Amazon. Can you imagine people buying gold for bragging rights? Of course. That will probably never go away. What about a Babe Ruth rookie card? Sure, there might be someone who wants that. Can you imagine people buying bitcoin for bragging rights? Probably not. The people who buy bitcoin would be buying it because it has a specific utility. It must do something. Example: I can use bitcoin to buy illegal drugs online. That is a real purpose. Smuggling money out of China is another purpose. If you were to exclude all of the illegal uses of bitcoin, can you think of any uses for bitcoin? If I wanted to buy a car or buy a house, why would I want to use bitcoin instead of dollars?
You change your argument a lot, first you said nobody would buy yen because you use US dollars to pay taxes, then I pointed out that people do buy yen. What exactly are you saying?
Bitcoin definitely does have value or it wouldn't be worth $2k per bitcoin.
Thank you for arguing with me about Bitcoin, because of this I did research and bought some and I made thousands of dollars of because of this. So thank you man, i hope you all the best.
Now it's quadrupled since this post. Thanks again!!

It is hard to say, as there aren't a lot of stats about tulip mania. I found reports that traders were making upwards of $700k/yr in modern money trading tulips, but it is hard to get a sense of what the total market volume was.
However, tulip trade was at its height a significant portion of the entire Dutch economy, and that was back when that was a pretty big economy on the global scale.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Which of my statements is incorrect? Name 1 legitimate and legal reason people would use bitcoin.
To avoid currency inflation, to have more control of their money, to hedge against the next down-turn (economies move in cycles) where people will seek safety outside of the banking system.
There's no other reason why so many people have invested so much time, effort, blood and sweat to support this cryptographically sound p2p decentralized wealth storage medium.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
The banking system is insured. Your bitcoins are not insured. Putting your money in bitcoin is significantly more dangerous than leaving it in a bank.
Bitcoin is not a hedge against downturns because the values of commodities are cyclical as well. I hear this same argument from people who buy gold, and they never seem to admit that gold can drop in value. Absolutely nothing is immune to cyclicality.
I like you

Holding onto tulips and holding onto bitcoin which makes you your OWN sovereign bank that can be used whereever you are in the world is completely different then owning flowers. I'm always in awe at the ignorance of bitcoin on this forum. SAD
[–]DashneDK20 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The coins have no inherent value or use.
No difference from any other (fiat) currency - like the US$ or euro etc. You can buy a lot of stuff with bitcoins, but certainly as of yet the number of things are vastly smaller than for more established currencies. The big advantage of bitcoin is that they're not being devalued by a freerunning printing press.
The next big financial crisis will tell us the extend of their utility.
Thank you for this post 4 months ago because I made thousands of dollars in Bitcoin thanks to your pessimism and me thinking you are wrong

[–]cheesymold1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
It's been appreciating to new highs since it's inception as more and more coins hit the market from miners. The amount of Bitcoin to be made available is 17 million. Which is not alot. You have no clue what you're talking about. Also cashing out before the fork is stupid as fuck. Do you know Bitcoin cash futures are already at 400$ on top of the Bitcoin you'd be holding?
[–]cheesymold0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I think it's further ahead in the future then that
The price has been appreciating when most of bitcoins were being created.. what does that tell you? There are like 3 million left to mined. Bitcoin has been appreciating in price while the supply becomes more and more limmitted. Not to mention the difficulty and costs for mining go up as well. The total ammount to be mined is already known also.
[–]fmanly0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Bitcoins are made at a predictable rate, so that is basically baked into their value. The only thing that is going to change their value is their supply relative to their demand, and since the supply side is highly constrained the demand really is what is going to drive the value. This is true of all currencies, but in most major ones the central bank regulates the supply to match the demand to keep inflation close to zero. Bitcoin actually lacks that ability, so if there is a lot of demand for it the value will go up, and if demand drops the value will go down.
Since most bitcoin is held primarily for speculation the value tends to be fairly unstable. What would stabilize the currency is if most of the transactions were real purchases of tangible goods. I don't see that happening anytime soon.
Whether it is a "good investment" depends on whether you think it will ever get used in the real world for some use other than "investing in bitcoin."
[–]fmanly0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It already is largely tracked. All bitcoin transactions are public and archived. The only thing you don't know is who controls what account. In order to get money in or out most people use a credit card or bank transfer, and those of course are traceable. So, the entry/exit points are traceable, and the movement inside is traceable.
Now, there are mixing services that probably will start to get more popular. This is when you give your money to an intermediary and tell them where to send it, and they put it into one big communal pot and delay the transactions so that nobody can tell which incoming transaction matches with which outgoing one. They of course charge a fee for this.
You won't really have much anonymity until it really takes off though. If there aren't a lot of plausible ways to spend bitcoin then any transaction can potentially look suspicious.
I bought a car with them. People will buy bitcoin locally and are easily exchanged for cash. Clueless

I'd appreciate if anyone could answer a few questions I've had regarding Bitcoin:
How is it not a fiat currency? Is it because there is a hard cap on the amount of Bitcoins there can be? Does it derive it's worth from the "work" required to mine them or is it merely all speculative? In the past our currency was tied to physical assets (specifically gold and silver), but it seems Bitcoin is only tied to the intangible blockchain; not much different than our currency currently being backed by "good faith."
How is this not an attempt to do away with physical currency? Physical currency is needed in times of strife, and all it takes to make your stash of Bitcoins useless is a power outage. What does it matter that you can just copy your wallet number to a piece of paper in those situations? No smart businessman is going to accept your transaction. Removing physical currency allows other forces to be in control of your wealth.
I'll admit I am not well versed in Bitcoin operations, however I would gladly accept some fresh perspectives.
[–]ColdStoryBro0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Bitcoin is founded by its ICO then built by the work of transaction processing and trading. It does have a fixed hard cap and we know how many theoretical coin there will ever be based on the algorithm.
Physical currency is not secure. You can be robbed, dealt counterfeits, damage your currency. Other forces are already controlling the value of fiat cash. For example, my CAD isn't worth shit because my leaders are driving my nation into the ground and has caused a swing of -25% in a 4 year span.
I'm don't know much about crypto, but I do know that hashing is pretty fucking secure having academically studied it. A blockchain based currency can trace its legitimacy all the way back to the ICO. I own no crypto currencies because they are not accepted forms of payment in any day to day purchasing deals I make.
To put it simply - Bitcoin is a p2p decentralized store of wealth medium that works via its cryptography 'proof of work' algorithm that allows people to store and transport high amounts of wealth internationally and across borders.
Holding cash in a bank pays no interest, your cash is loaned out as debt, and banks can put withdrawel limits or close up to prevent you getting your money out.
How is it not a fiat currency?
Well, it more-or-less is, though it is a bit different in that its power doesn't come from the barrel of some army's gun but from the value its users put in it.
It also has a fixed supply. If the US government collapsed the US dollar probably would lose value over time for a few reasons:
During its collapse the US government could print a lot of dollars, causing inflation. People might want to avoid dollars before the government even does this because of the risk of this happening, which would cause it to lose value even if not a single extra dollar is printed.
While paper money isn't easy to counterfeit, it is certainly possible. Now, this is held in check because it is a crime to counterfeit US dollars, and the US government has a long reach. if you get US dollars from a US bank or business it is very unlikely that they'll be counterfeit. If the US government went away, people might start counterfeiting the money if it actually had value, because nobody would stop them.
With traditional money you tend to need some government to back it.
So, I think Bitcoin is different and this makes it interesting. However, it also has some downsides and I'm not convinced it will succeed in the long term.
Hahaha, magnficent.

Be it the petro-dollar or bitcoin they are both fake, because neither is backed by an asset such as gold.
Be aware that bitcoin will make it that much easier to control the masses.
Bitcoin is backed by energy through the mining process. The process is exactly the same as mining units of gold, where you require diesel and other fuels to mine it from the earth with equipment. Bitcoins are mined 'data' instead of gold but the process of energy being required is the same.
Can you physically hold that energy?

[–]mentalidade_logica0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
I know that bitcoin is not backed by gold or anything else tangible for that matter, aka it's a make belief creation.
I know that the petro-dollar is also no longer backed by gold, thus it is just a matter of time, relatively speaking before it completely collapses. I also know that Russia, China and even Saudi Arabia, an US ally (and soon BRICKS) are now starting to use gold for exchange not the petro-dollar or bitcoins.
So how am I, Russia, China, SA or BRICKS - idiots?

That's great, I like the idea of gold backed currency you know you can buy gold with bitcoin right? I'm glad gold doesn't back bitcoin or it would be worth significantly less. Gold has many uses. So does bitcoin. Bitcoin is thus far the superiour store of value. Right now I could buy gold with my bitcoin and receive 2 oz to 1 bitcoin. I still prefer bitcoin to gold for it's uses over gold. I don't need to hold it on me physically. I can send it and bring it anywhere in the world quickly and securely with only a wallet password. There is also a finite supply. Much more limmitted then gold.
So what you're saying is the global elite is going to turn off the power grid and cut off the internet? LOL fuckkkkkk hahahahahha who the fuck are you people?!?!?
Great because I want to head over to a thirdworld shit hole like venezuala. Oh wait bitcoin is being used to buy groceries and life line products. Alot of people leaving but the ones who are staying are using bitcoin. Not sure where you're going to be with no internet or computers. I'm certainly not moving there.

I'll keep buying dips with bitcoin you keep buying dips on gold. I'll be sure to remind you who will end up owning more gold.

That's great, I like the idea of gold backed currency
So was the US dollar once and now it's just a matter of time before it will collapse. No doubt that bitcoin would have some credibility if backed by gold, the question is for how long?
you know you can buy gold with bitcoin right
I can buy a couple of sheep with a cow too in some parts of the world. (irrelevant).
I'm glad gold doesn't back bitcoin or it would be worth significantly less.
Yes bitcoin would be worth less, because it has no real value, just an inflationary one.
Gold has many uses. So does bitcoin.
I agree on the first part. Bitcoin is a perfect tool for One Corporate New World Oder. Bitcoin will eventually also serve as a master ID to control the masses.
Bitcoin is thus far the superiour store of value.
Until someone hacks the computers. My gold coins are very safe with me, no probs.
I don't need to hold it on me physically.
That is the major difference between you and I, you see, I like to keep my assets close by.
There is also a finite supply.
Until those in control decide otherwise.
Say are you a salesman for bitcoin?
[–]cheesymold0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
All your arguments are easily refuted with common sense. I'm not dealing with you anymore. Fuck off.
Perhaps you can just answer this one very simple question and that is can I always buy an hooker with bitcoin without anyone ever knowing about it? (It's illegal to buy sex but not to sell it, you see).
I am a MGTOW and I do NOT accept bitcoin, because it is:
1) fake fiat currency,
2) a perfect tool for the One Corporate World Order &
3) In time kiss your autonomy goodbye.
I couldn't help myself.... Here's a link lol... http://people.com/tv/rob-kardashian-and-blac-chyna-relationship-timeline
Yep. I think a lot of Bitcoins will stay forever lost due to this lol.
[–]hazmigaming0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Been mining Monero lately, slow paced (old mining hardware) but certainly have some money to be made.
Cryptocurrencies is like Mgtow, when it started everybody makes fun of it, when its growing rapidly, people start to notice it, when it grows to big, they want to ban/stop it (in this case big banks and Feminist/woman/Mangina society). Another thing is that both is not able to be stopped due to the fact cryptocurrencies is peer-to-peer currencies with no central banks and MGTOW is a lifestyle and able to blend with this gynocentric society without getting caught.
Global elitists are on record for a war on cash. Bitcoin is just the ideal tool to control and monitor the masses.
If bitcoin is introduced worldwide, every single move by every single person will be monitored and thus controlled. Forget buying a hooker cause someone will know about it.
