I am a 27 year old male in excellent health, financially set with a comfy government job, and most importantly, not married! I’m not really interested in dating anymore as I have become MGTOW, although I’m not opposed to an LTR but only if it’s on my terms (haha, that’s a joke). Anyway, I love to travel and do things, but trying to convince my friends is a complete waste of breath anymore. Out of my five friends, here are their respective reasons/excuses:
• Friend A is currently engaged. Prior to his engagement, we went to Europe with a tour group and had an absolute blast! However, he only travels with his girlfriend now that he’s engaged.
• Friend B is getting married this year. He is dropping 25 grand on a fancy wedding and hates to travel. I basically see him 2-3 hours once every 3 months, compared to seeing him on a weekly basis prior to his engagement.
• Friend C is single, and previously had interest in doing a trip. However, upon asking him recently if he’s be interested, he came up with 55 excuses: car payment, saving for a house, giving Friend B a wedding gift, renting a stupid tuxedo for the wedding, blah blah blah.
• Friend D is also single. He hates to travel, aside from doing a day trip here and there once in a while.
• Friend E likes to do things, but he is too controlling and I generally can only tolerate spending a few hours with him at a time, as we don’t have much in common. I can't image spending a whole week with him!
So getting someone to travel with me this summer is out of the question. But fuck, I have time, health, and money, and I want to travel somewhere!
I’ve been thinking of doing a cross country road trip from the east coast, ending in Los Angeles and possibly spending three grand for a once-in-a-lifetime ride in a fighter jet (fuck it, better than dropping that on an engagement ring, right?).
My biggest obstacle is my mother giving me a hassle, as everything I tell her I’m doing something, her response is “who are you going with”? While I am 27 and I do what I want, it feels like it’s taboo for me to do things alone, whereas I actually prefer to do things alone many times – no coordinating schedules, no bitching from people who don’t want to do what I want to do, no sharing hotel rooms, I can put what I want on the car radio, etc.
Anyone have experience from friends and family giving them flak for doing things alone? If so, how do you deal with it? I am continuing to learn the MGTOW ways and to NGAF!
** Update: So my mother and grandfather think the boogeyman is going to get me by going alone, despite the fact that I travel alone 2-6 hours away for work nearly every week of the year. But whatever, I do what I want.

She gives you shit like that, feed her various forms of shit right back, as in:
Or...
Or...

Trust me, do that kind of thing a few times... and she'll QUIT with the bullshit.
Also, you have the PERFECT opportunity to give it a try -- with a "get out of jail FREE" card...
April 1st is just two days away. You can always backtrack and say "April Fool!"

Here is the rationale that friends and family have for giving flak for doing things alone:
"He wants to do it alone. That ain't right. He must like to be alone. Something wrong with that boy. He does things alone and likes it, so he's a loner. Hey, isn't it always the loner that goes on shooting sprees? Don't I recall all those media reports about school shootings, political assassinations, serial killings, and home-grown terror plots being done by "loners". Better put pressure on the boy to get some friends, lest he turn into one of them. Besides, he deserves to miserable surrounded by other people...misery loves company."
The worst thing is that society frowns on people, especially men, doing things alone. And people love to judge lone people in a negative light. Next time you do something alone, such as just going to a movie by yourself, listen carefully to the assholes around you...at least one of them, usually a woman, will make some snide comment about what a loser you must be if you couldn't find someone to accompany you.
The flak from your mother is understandable. She's a woman...women can't stand being alone...they even have to go to the bathroom with someone else.

Of course. Goes without saying.
But, when it comes to MOTHERS, they usually give sons flak for going it alone because they fear her boy will turn into one of those loner freaks that she is afraid of.

Update: Asked my married co-worker to go on my road trip. He's someone that I have a great time hanging out with, someone who I can literally talk to and joke around with for hours.
Sadly, his wife through a bitchy fit when he asked her for permission to come, so he's not allowed to go.
