It’s more than convenient for this administration to have to shut down a pipeline for a hack when they wanted to shut it down anyway. AOC is in heaven. Next week prepare to see more roll outs of windmills and solar panels as the fix.

From what I've heard, the control systems for the pipeline didn't get hit, the business side did. They just shut off the control systems 'just in case.' LOL.

I'm also sure there's a lot of federal red tape they are wading through, rather than just getting the thing back up efficiently. Also lots of panicky types and gougers buying up gas, too.

From what I've heard it was a ransom ware attack. And the pipeline was shut down to protect it. I heard that from a news report. According to the FBI it was a group that operates out of Russia..of course. Don't know if I believe it or not. FBI has Russia on the brain.

No but the claimed "Russia hacked again X" story is not believable. It seems to be the default story for everything these days.

Probably some very money hungry private hackers.

People seem to forget that couple weeks before Memorial Weekend there’s always some breaking story that happened somewhere and the media says “and this is why gas prices will rise”.

In regards to this “hack” think about it. How will that cause gas prices to rise after we had a whole year where there was so much gas that they had warehouses filled with gallons of gas and now that we are opening up and summer just round the corner we are supposed to believe some hack hacked into a pipeline and there’s no reserves of gas anymore to fill demand?!

This is just an excuse to raise gas prices. And people fall for it all the time. I remember before the pandemic they had story about some war in Africa and “that’s why gas prices will rise this coming summer”. Or some bomb in Iraq “is why gas will go off this summer”. It’s always a story right before the summer season.

This is all rigged.

And after last year I can’t believe ain’t no one going “even is a hack happened where is all that gas no one used last year that was reported as being horded in warehouses”?!

Someone quite possibly opened an email attachment on one of the company's computers or went to a spoofed site that had malicious code which then made it across to the company's servers. That is generally how it happens with these ransomware attacks.

I am confused as to why you think the hack is some smoke and mirrors psyop. In any event, it was a ransomeware attack. The group that is taking responsibility apologized because this hack lead to ordinary people suffering. The group believed to have done it is called "dark net"; they're Russian. The technical details haven't been divulged yet because it was probably some big wigs computer being used in less than proper ways. The pipeline is slowly being brought online, and should be flowing oil from Texas to Jeresy by Monday at the latest. There is a shortage of truckers to deliver the fuel to gas stations.
