I'm intrigued as to what your definition of a true MGTOW is. I always thought it was quite simple: a man who has chosen to avoid marriage and long-term realtionships with women. Often many MGTOWs are accused of being 'incels in denial' or MSTOW.

I think part of the problem is that people online try to see things too much in black and white terms when in reality, there are often varying shades of grey. For instance I would say these five men below could legitimiately be classified as either MGTOW or MSTOW.

1) Richard is 18. His father is treated like dirt by his mother. As a result, Richard has no desire to get a girl-friend. This young man is 4/10 on the looks scale, so it wouldn't be particularly easy for him to get a girl even if he wanted one.

2) Steve is an average looking 25 year old man who has had three average-looking long-term girl-friends in his life. All three of these girls always felt they deserved better than him and treated him poorly. As a result, Steve is much happier being alone and is no longer looking for a partner.

3) Phil is an average looking 35 year old man who has had some relationships in the past. However, they were either landwhales, or he ended up as betabux to average looking women. Consequently, Phil has understandably lost interest in relationships with the kind of women he can get.

4) Pedro is a 45 year old man who has been divorce-raped by the woman who had been the love of his life for 20 years. This terrible trauma and disappointment means that he wants nothing more to do with women. Pedro is now broke and middle-aged, so his choices would be limited, anyway.

5) Max is a 40 year old man who has never had much luck with women due to both his shyness and his 4/10 looks. At one time, he felt sad about this and considered himself to be an Incel/F.A. However, some of his married friends have been divorce-raped while others are in toxic relationships. Therefore, Max now realizes that he isn't that unfortunate after all and is quite content with his single life
