Think about that... "to avoid deployment".

Now what does "deployment" mean when it comes to a navy? Basically it means any & all of the actual "work" of the navy... a ship in a harbor is really NOT a ship "in the navy" in any meaningful sense.

Easily solved. You're allowed mat leave no problem but you still owe deployment for the time you've been on leave before you get discharged

The funny thing is, General Rule #1 gets ignored all the time like this, and you know who never gets in trouble for it? Even when it's obvious they were involved? No, they just get sent home to reduced work schedules, base housing that usually takes a family a year to get or longer, and extra pay.
