I agree. We're too far down the rabbit hole at this point. I've been thinking that some sort of secession is the only way to go for many years, but unlike the last time the nation was this divided the fault line is ideological rather than geographical.
How do you make two countries out of this?
If you break it down by zip code it's even worse. We don't have blue states and red states, we barely have blue cities and red suburbs/rural areas. What we have is either heavily populated or extremely wealthy blue enclaves and red everything else. The red area is mostly contiguous, but the blue areas are not... and if they continue to force their agenda on everyone they're likely to discover that they are also islands of hungry eaters in a sea of unsympathetic farmers. The left likes to point out that the blue areas subsidize the red areas monetarily, but that's just because the markets are in large cities. Omaha, Nebraska could set up a commodities market a lot more easily and quickly than New York City could grow enough food to keep everybody from starving.

As the other guy pointed out, the whole country is purple and deeply divided among ideological lines.
Also, I don't see secession happening. It's more likely that the system will eventually just collapse from fiscal problems.
I don't think its worth trying to fix at this point. Just take care of yourself and your family and have a contingency plan.

It's true. Forgot myself this morning @ the gas station. Said something to the effect of "I think it should be ok for the U.S. to be good without being obsessed with being the 'best'..." and this clerk just about lost his shit.
I just raised my hand as soon as he started going off and told him I'd talk to him later, as there were other customers in line.
Like whoops, I forgot to follow the fucking narrative, my bad. Should have just smiled, nodded, and gone about my business.
For clarity, I do not hate or mislike my country. But yeah, head down/gray man really is the way to go.
