Alpha and beta are shitty terms.

Tons of betas are ontop and tons of betas are on the bottom.

I also dislike the terms alpha and beta. If the “alpha” is a leader and the betas are followers than that would make me the alpha of a few things in my circle.

Example: when it comes to music everyone asks me for advice on playing and I tend to help out and lead others to pursue that interest.

Also, my friend let’s call him Charlie is way better at fishing. I follow his lead when it comes to that hobby. So in this instance I would be a beta.

I think your position in a hierarchy changes based on your ability of that social groups interest.

Let me know if you agree or disagree, these are just my thoughts on the subject.

I think it's much deeper than this. the laws and regulations of modern democracy were created by many "betas" and "alphas" as well.

The "brutish alpha males" he's talking about aren't running a god damn thing. Except maybe a production line at a factory, some cable underground in below freezing weather, or running a unit in Syria, or a patrol on your street.

Seriously he needs to open his eyes. The "beta" scientists and discoverers he's talking about don't maintain shit, let alone the infrastructure. Who maintains society? The loud, aggressive, burping, farting, shit-talking, generally average IQ "alpha" assholes laying pipes, fixing roads, bridges, skyscrapers, hauling trash. In addition to laying pipe in the wives of the tech guys making 6 figures a year.

All the dirty, fucked up jobs that this asshat and none of the "Betas" want to do are relegated to the brutish alpha males he's talking about.

I don't really agree with the use of alpha and beta as this person is using it. I believe both alphas and betas contribute to society as worker bees. For instance, I know more alpha welders and construction workers than I know beta ones. I am in STEM but constantly ask myself if I would be considered alpha or beta. I don't take shit from anybody and do what I want, not what I'm told However, I was mostly beta with my exes.
