Going to work and seeing people? That makes me depressed. I combat this by waking up an hour early and browsing here and a few other sane portions of Reddit before getting ready to leave. Gives me the fuel I need to get through the day.

That's valid, a little bit. It's reality or at least today's environment for men. I think bringing today's reality for men to the forefront is part of the place for this sub. There are a lot of young guys who come here and ask questions about "life out there" as we have experienced it. They've seen what their mother's have done to their father, they've seen what women do to men. They read it in the news and ask for ideas on how they can avoid common pitfalls. The sadness is the reality, the lift comes from the male support here.

Not really,it just reminds me of the pitfalls associated with relationships in general, and also to avoid hate because that is counterproductive and a hindrance to progress.

TBH this sub makes me laugh each day. Even some of the more outrageous posts have some truth in them. Just speaking for myself, i just go about my day and enjoy it as much as one can reasonably enjoy the grind. You sound like you're lucky enough to have a job where you make a difference in people's lives directly. That's purpose in and of itself. Don't let women validate who you are - reserve that worth by your own measure.

It makes you depressed if you lived in a pink bubble all your life and you reach sudden realization that life be hard. Its somewhat similar to millennials realizing that adults dont want to deal with their shit. But at the end of the day, things are really simple: the number of people you can count on for better or worse is very very small (be it man or woman)
