Greetings MGTOW'ers – my story pretty much follows AWALT. Just beware. I was married for 30 years, and planning a killer trip (driving the convertible to Daytona Beach, the Keys and Key West) for our anniversary. The wife had always wanted a return visit to Key West, so why not, I love road trips. 6 months before the trip, her father gets seriously ill and she returns to our prior home city (600 miles away) to help attend to him. During her time there, she reacquaints herself with high school friends (she's now in her 50's). During one of their bar-hopping sessions she runs into her old high school boyfriend, now a divorced alcoholic. (not that it matters, but he was also my dorm roommate in college. Dude! Really!?). He begins to pay a lot of attention to her, and she begins to decide that she “isn't happy”, like some attention starved fourteen year old girl. She calls one evening to ask what I am doing, and I tell her I am doing dishes and cleaning up after dinner, to which she says, “you don't need me”. “Yes”, I say, “as a grown ass man, I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself”. This was a red flag that I didn't get. Why did she say such a thing, what the hell did that mean? It meant that she was monkey-branching to her alcoholic ex-boyfriend, I just didn't see it coming. So she leaves - the kids (out of the house), her dog, everything - files for divorce and guess who pay$ for it. Why does divorce cost so much? Because IT'S WORTH IT! After a decade of paying her to leave me and take up with another man, I was done. Surprising how much money you find you have with the woman gone. I married that young woman some 45 years ago, before the internet and cell phones. Still, despite a home, kids and anything else she wanted, it went south because she just had to have more attention paid to her. When patients ask me when I am going to get married again, I say I'm not.... I tried that for 30 years and it didn't work out. I don't recommend it.

Karmic kick-back. With her new lifestyle of bar-hopping, drinking and partying, she becomes diabetic and ignores a sore on her foot. An infection sets in and she ends up loosing her leg to her knee. So much fun acting like a stupid teenager wasn't it?!

TLDR: 30 year marriage ends due to monkey-branching and attention seeking behavior. AWALT. Beware.
