Weddings IMO are solely for women. Everything that happens at a wedding nowadays is for the woman and making sure she is happy. While most of the time tradition has it that the bride's family pays for the wedding, it's you that will be paying for everything else for the rest of the marriage and even after divorce. The most idiotic aspect of weddings is the 3 month salary rule where the man should spend three months of paychecks on a wedding ring. If he makes 80K a year, that says he should spend 20K on the ring. GTFO, never get married.

My buddy spent about 60K on his wedding, his wife was a nightmare for about 5 months planning it, they fought constantly. By the time the wedding came they were barely speaking. He caught her cheating 14 months into the marriage. Apparently it had been going on for over 3 years, the entirety of their dating and engagement.

My wife and I eloped in Las Vegas when I was in the Marines, cost a few hundred bucks, but I know she resents the hell out of me for it.

not only the day itself but the hours in prep picking every minor nonsense detail from the invites to the flowers.

I would even say "no" to a free wedding ceremony with no commitment (i.e no marriage) simply because its a pain in the arse and no benefit at all and i get nothing out of it.

If weddings were motorcycle adventures with target shooting BBQs and jetskis then sign me up, but dressing up like a tit and faffing over inane shite sound like hell.

and that's ignoring what a trap marriage is.

Why do people have to rehearse a wedding? One would think everybody got the gist of this millenia-old (and bankrupt, but let's let that slip for a moment) by now. I'm pretty sure women insist on "rehearsing" the ceremony because they want to live it multiple times.

Yeah, my mother made me go to the whole ceremony for high school graduation, I just wanted to go get my damn diploma after and go back to playing WoW and enjoying my school-free year. That whole night was a disaster anyway, fuck. If I could go back I'd stand my damn ground and say no, I'm going to get my diploma later and take my damn free time. Fuck that shit.

If I was going to get married I'd just go to a court in casual attire and just get married there. Ugh.

I don't really have a nightmare story about a wedding... because we had one cancel not even a day before the wedding. I film weddings and we had one booked that included around 400 guests. Then the father calls up saying they split. Needless to say, a shit ton of money is down the drain.

If unicorns were real then I wouldn't mind dropping some money on it. Still could never justify more than 10 grand. I would have a blast in that scenario.

But that's fantasy. In the real world I wouldn't get married even if offered $1 million. Hell there was a guy that offered a billion to his wife to leave. Even if he offered me that to marry her I'd turn it down thinking it was just a trap.
