One tactic that I'm increasingly aware of with women is the use of the fact-free alternative narrative. Otherwise known as gaslighting, this is an excellent way for them to completely negate reality and what actually happened. They do it all the time.

Here's an example. My cheating girlfriend, who I just left, began cheating on me in July, with some guy she met on vacation. I don't know if they had actual sex, but according to her, they "fell in love" which I think certainly qualifies. I point out that among other things, she lied to me about this for at least two months afterwards, including being taken on vacation and so on, until she was forced to reveal it because circumstances made hiding it any longer impossible. Her response to "you lied to me and cheated on me" was, and this is a direct quote, "Just once in my life I want to be romanced the way I want to be romanced. Not the way someone else thinks I want to be romanced."

In other words, the entire discussion suddenly went from whether or not it's okay to lie and cheat to whether or not she deserves to be romanced, with an overtone of victimhood. You have your narrative, she has hers, and as long as she sticks to hers, they sort of cancel each other out. You have your version, she has hers, and nobody wins, which is what she wants. She can keep ignoring you, and doing what she feels like, because she has her own version of things, and isn't interested in testing it with facts.

Women do this all the time. In college, I learned in a political science that the person who controls the subject of the debate will win the debate. That's what this is. The most brutal, cruel, dishonest behavior can be totally rationalized away this way.
