I wish we had true diners up here, they are as rare as unicorns. Plenty of decent 'diner style' restaurants but no actual old diner car joints like this.

Was helping out my buddy build out a restaurant he was opening, including going to salvage yards to pick out fixtures. Every choice he made were these frou frou cutesy crap that you see on Pinterest and Instagram. I ask what’s up since that is decidedly not his personal style. He said women made the vast majority of the dining decisions and he was catering to their tastes. Men would eat in a concrete bunker if the place was clean and the food was good. I remember that red-pilled the hell out of me.

The food is usually better there than anywhere.

I'm sure it has absolutely NOTHING to do do with the fact that most short order cooks are....... Men. Nahhhhhhhhhhh.
