The person who had a major impact in my life died, very soon after the death is when I found my little buddy on the street. I gave her a great life and rescued her from certain death and named her after the person who died. I feel like I'm reliving that death as well as losing my companion. I feel broken, I feel like I'm dying.

Condolences on the loss of your dog. I had a house fire last year. Almost a year since the event (in Feb. 2020) it is still not fully repaired because of all the delays for permits amid the shutdown.

It is a truly awful feeling to see your house on fire. I will never forgot it.

My only advice is that, as soon as you feel ready, start looking for the next pet to adopt. You clearly have a lot of love to give and the next critter you pick up will be happy and lucky to have you.

Ah man, sorry to hear that :( Especially the dog. Mine is 14 so I know I'll be in your boat soon and although it is a part of life we all face I dread it immensely.

If you don't mind me asking, what happened? I always wonder how house fires start because it happened to my family home when I was 4 and to this day I have no idea how it happened and I have always wondered.

You can take solace in the fact that this is God punishing you for who you are as a person by reliving their death over and over. If you get another pet the same thing will probably happen, so it's up to you if you want to tempt fate.
