Buy two BETTER bottles of wine than announced (have two and pull the one that’s supposed to be a gift out while displaying the other one).

You can casually mention how the other is for you to COOK with, this way you displayed many things:

1-the ability to buy two great wine bottles. 2- the wine means not much to you and it’s just a casual gesture to the gifted person. 3- you make good fucking food. 4- you better than hold your own word.

My father raised me to never break my word as that is something you just don't do, so either give the bottle of wine or be a low life and break your word. Which I'd never trust a person who breaks their word.

If you're doing this as a friendly gesture to a co-worker who happens to like wine, maybe it's OK.

If it's a person you are trying to get to start dating you /sleep with you , absolutely not.

In many cultures and workplaces, gestures you think are harmless can be seen as harassment, and you could be the subject of a report to HR.
