I view the ideal decision making process to be kind of like a small business. The employer is a metaphor for logic, and the employee is a metaphor for emotions. Now of course you need both to run a successful business, and a smart employer will listen to criticism from their employees. But we all know that at the end of the day the boss has the final say.

We can never go full vulcan and focus only on logic, it doesn't work that way. Emotions are a key part of what makes us human. They drive our desires, which in turn drives our goals, which in turn gives our lives meaning. But we shouldn't allow them to control us. Logic is the boss, and should always have the final say.

If you're the kind of person who experiences emotional breakdowns like this guy did, then the best thing you can do is do a little reading up on human psychology. Learn what makes your emotions tick. That way when you have an irrational breakdown, you'll be able to understand WHY you are feeling the way you do, and at that point you might just be surprised at how easy it can be to simply CHOOSE to stop feeling that way. I'm not joking, it's actually shockingly easy. Give your employee a stern talking to, let them know where they fucked up, and then get back to work. We've got money to make.

In this case it's a simple matter of lust. Dude isn't still in love with this chick, he's just experiencing a hedonistic desire. It's like any other addiction, only you're born with it. Next time you feel like calling her, take note of that feeling, beat your dick like it owes you money, then see if you still feel that way afterwards. And that's your proof that it's just horniness. It won't stop you from experiencing that lust, but it will allow you to re-contextualize it, and deal with those emotions on YOUR terms, rather than letting them control you and ruin your life.
