Guys are gonna hate me: $0 a month. I'm preparing for a bike tour, where I'll still try to survive on $0 a month, so I'm currently staying with some awesome friends of mine. I hang out with the dogs, babysit, take care of some chores, and generally try not to be a shitty roommate. It's worked out well. My friends provied food, I ride a bicycle, have no cell service, and have free hobbies, like reading and writing. Living off oatmeal, coffee, ramen, pasta, and whatever I can find. It's not a bad way to be. I've got all my gear to get me on the road, and I'll be dumpster diving for food. Living without soap as well, so no expenses there. It's just an experiment to see how to live without money since I've always been so obsessed over and bad with it. I literally could survive for the cost of food and a campsite indefinitely if needed. Love this thread, btw, good to gauge how the rest of us get along without all the hideous drama and such.

I spend 1/3 of my income on mortgages, 1/3 goes in to retirement/savings and the other 1/3 I spend on whatever the hell I want and usually spend it all every month enjoying life while I still can.

Living in Taiwan at the moment. Going home later this year, where I'm hoping to get into a new industry.

Here, I spend about $300 (USD) on rent and utilities. At the moment, I try and eat the school food whenever I can, including taking it home with me for the weekends (it's also good for my health; people eat the meat and other 'good food' more, so most of what is left is rice and vegetables. Doing this saves money, but it's also a good way to finally force myself to eat something healthy).

If I do that all the time, monthly food bill is about $80. If I'm less careful, twice that - about $150. Not drinking (expensive, but also trying to get myself in shape and generally sort myself out).

That's basically all I spend. As I said, I'm in ultra-saver mode, as I know I'll be light on income in six months. My salary is about $2,200 USD, base, but I'm doing a ton of overtime that's adding another $500. The job is draining, and that plus the overtime means I'm too busy for much socializing, so my free time is basically spent in bed or on the computer.

Yeah, yeah. Not the best life. Not really the one I want to lead either, which is one reason for the move home when my contract ends.

But, say about $400 to $500 USD, on a salary of $2,500ish. Tax drags a bit out of it, but this month, I should put around $1,800 into savings or so. I'll get a bunch of the tax back as a rebate, but not til next year.

Current rate, I'll have saved about $20,000 since I came to Taiwan. So, 20k in two years. Not terrible. First year was pretty shite tbh, in terms of savings. In every way really.

The job isn't for me, and I'm hoping to get into IT. Got plans to keep costs down next year, but at least for a year, I expect my salary will be low low low.

I'm the same way. I enjoy living a meager lifestyle. I typically save most of my money. I have a very tiny room in a rooming house, enough space for a bed, fridge and two desks for computers (watch videos on one, game on the other). Shared bathroom and kitchen. I will eventually get an apartment of my own but I honestly don't mind living this way at all. I could get a better place right now if I wanted but I don't have anyone to impress but myself and I love it that way. I make about $2100 a month after taxes and can save about half of it if I really tried, but usually save about 700-800.

In my thirties. Work as a project programmer. Work about 25 hrs a week. Live cheaply in a small flat. Spend my money and time on loser stuff such as books, cooking, road biking and snowboarding, computer games and fotographing. Rest of money I save. Cost for living, i.e. flat+nutrition is about 1000$.

my monthly costs are around $990 w/ rent, net about $1680 a month, easily save 8-9K a year while doing whatever the fuck I want. A woman would destroy my financial homeostasis. Work 40 hours a week two consecutive days off out of work 4:30pm on the dot every day.

Currently living with parents, so nothing, but paid off an apartment & car in full thanks to cryptocurrency, moving out EOY as soon as I can get my visa sorted
