I in fact think that it is a mental illness. I think it gives these people the feeling of power. As in they gave that person the money to buy a car and so they needed him/her. I use "him/her" for the sake of offended people but most of these types are male.

This whole power feeling is from a branch of narcism I believe and so it is a mental disorder.

Financial Domination is an interesting thing , I've watched a few shows on people who engage in it . Funny enough I think my favorite one was an MTV Tru Life episode about it and absolutely yes you can tell all the submissives who were sending the doms money were off . Like Actual Incels who weren't all there or had very weak social skills.

Some people are so aimless and directionless in life that giving their money to someone they consider beautiful or more powerful feels like the best thing they could do with their life that day , very sad . I'm not defending it just trying to explain it .

Assuming there's no sex involved which is rare, I think the primary reason is a feeling of power and authority over a (supposedly) helpless/weak/needy subordinate. It makes them feel needed.
