Everything here was supposed to disappear. Banned subreddits, deleted communities, cancelled blogs — much of what is archived here survives nowhere else.
It stays free — no paywall, no account — for the next man who comes looking, the way it was free for you.

Look into machiavellianism my friend. Other people in terms of opinions, belief systems and their feelings should never override your true interests. Machiavellenism delves into the state of the human mind and how insignificant the human opinion is. I would recommend reading into it.

Sensitive?
Or... is it rather that your "self-esteem" -- lacking any firm foundation or basis -- is largely built upon validation from others?
-- You see, if and when you have SOLID, objective accomplishments in your past -- proof (to yourself) of your own competence, skill, talent, etc -- then whatever others may think or say is of little (or no) relevance... regardless of whether it is attempt to praise OR to shame.

Feelings shouldn't be entirely ignored -- they're your "gut" response to a situation, and are important to take note of.
BUT... they aren't a substitute for reason, logic, judgement. In other words, your "feelings" can tell you that something is "off" or "wrong" -- but they cannot really tell you WHAT is wrong, they do not explain the WHY.
--
-- You've heard of the thing called the "imposter syndrome" right?
-- You've probably also heard that the majority of college students ADMIT to "cheating" -- that is rather blatant "cheating" (by their own definition no less).
-- In addition, regardless of your level of schooling, you've doubtless seen people engage in following some "method" of studying, or of "working on problems"...
And yet, even though they've followed that "method" -- how they really DON'T have anything like a "confident" mastery of the subject matter.
Proof of that is just how common the phenomenon of "test anxiety" is, as well as the various things (largely pre-test prep or studying, usually "cramming" the night before) people due to attempt to alleviate that, yet the anxiety persists at least until they found out they "passed" (often followed by a "Whew!")
-- Ever ask yourself how those things are related?
-- Would you "fear" or experience "anxiety" over some test of your ability to say "walk across a room"? Of course not. Would you feel like you are an "imposter" in regards to "walking" in general? Again, of course not.
Why not? Because you have "mastered" the skill of walking.
You don't experience anxiety over some "test" of that, you don't feel like some "imposter" about it; and you really cannot be "shamed" regarding it either (nor -- once you're no longer a "toddler" child -- will you need any "validation" around it, or experience any "joy" over someone praising you: "Gee you really walk well.") The mere idea of any of that being relevant is ABSURD.
-- Likewise, so long as you are of moderate intelligence & education, you probably wouldn't fear any "test"; nor could you be "shamed" over your capability to say "add & subtract numbers" (certainly not the kind we experience in normal life).
Again, neither anxiety over testing, nor praise nor shaming (or any sense of being an "imposter") would be anything but ABSURD. You've mastered that; there is a solid, objective, proven "foundation" to that ability.
-- Well the same thing applies to OTHER stuff as well. The people who experience "anxiety" and/or feeeeel that they might be exposed as "imposters" and/or "frauds" -- there is invariably some GOOD REASON why they feel that -- they "cheated" somewhere along the way (even if not literal "cheating" on a test, then "cheating" in the form of NOT truly "mastering" something {not entirely comprehending how that "stuff" works, only having the ability to apply a "rote" method, which "works" but they've no idea how or why} ... and so instead they rely upon the "test pass" or the "grade" or the "degree" -- that is, the external "validation" from other people; even though the internal validation knows it to be false.)
-- They "feel" like imposters, and "fear" being exposed as such... because (deep down) they know that's what they are.
-- When (or if) they ever gain ACTUAL mastery -- full comprehension, understanding, and proven "competence" (proven to themselves) -- all of that would "poof" disappear.
Unfortunately, most of those people DON'T return and work on the actual "mastery" -- instead they "double down" and seek MORE external validation: more degrees, more "certifications" etc. -- and of course the system (which profits immensely off of that; not to mention gains it's own "status" and "power" from it -- that is from the perpetuation of "imposters") is more than happy to assist.
