I suffered debilitating depression twice in life. Deep suicidal can't do anything for days, dark clouds following me everywhere kind of depression. Both times to do with situation involving women. I relied on junk food, alcohol, drugs to self medicate. Even did the SSRI's and therapy. I've found through hard experience that junk food, alcohol, drugs legal and otherwise, can screw with your mood until you see no way out. For me, life looked completely different when I changed these bad coping habits. And then of course got out of the shit situations.
Btw I like that the cartoon dummy looks like he's stuffed with fries.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've done the suicide thing, many times. Even succeeded, once. Shit is awful, and I've just realized... it's all about running away from life instead of running towards it. That requires responsibility. It's easier to try to pretend like we're dead, and helpless... it's omission of responsibility. For me, once I fully took responsibility for my life and accepted my self-agency, I just maxed-out. I just did my best in all things in all ways, and learned to be my best me. That it was okay to mess-up sometimes, if you learned how to do it better, next time. So many people live their whole life in an attempt to escape it, rather than enjoy it. I used to be one of those people, and now... I can't even fathom it.
I'm glad to hear you got your shit together, man! Great job!
Also, I believe that to be hay. Like a scarecrow. Get it?

I did it, but was then revived by medical staff. My friends called nine one one.
[–]Raygar211 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ha ha figured that was hay, but given my penchant for junk food liked thinking of it as fries, lol.
Totally agree with you about the running away from life vs running towards it. Great way to put it. And the self-agency thing. When you've been totally shafted, self pity is an easy pit to sink into, but one must look at how the whole shit show happened and our part in it.
There's also the other unfortunate choice which is stagnation. Just getting through each day like an old trail horse slogging through the ride just to get to the barn. See this a lot in marriages and it's like a slow suicide. Glad to be free! Thanks for the encouragement and back at you! Good on you and thanks for sharing your philosophy.

Depression is a battle with yourself. If you convince yourself you're going to lose; that you don't have a chance... then you don't.
It really is that easy, in concept. I am happy 24/7 365. Once you learn how to let go and do it, you never lose it.
I don't know what a "genetic depression" is, but it sounds like an excuse to never try. "I was born miserable, and I can never elevate my station!" Yeah. Not with that attitude.
Happiness is unconditional. Any conditions you try to place upon it, are ways you can, and will, fail.
Every male, barring some serious brain injury, can be happy. Even you.

Bullshit. You don't know what the fuck you're talking about. That's like saying "Cancer is a battle with yourself, cure it by punching yourself in the face and knocking that bad old cancer right out of you."
Depression is a disease. It's not sadness, it's not "feeling down", it's not being upset about a particular situation. It's an objective medical fact requiring scientific medical treatment, not "homespun wisdom" and other "spiritual" bullshit.
Having actual medical depression IS essentially having a serious brain injury. It's your brain not function correctly and impacting your personality.
Jesus...maybe people like you should try and get over your mental retardation by reading a fucking book.
[–]characterscharacters1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Exactly. Depression has become almost a trendy and fashionable go to word for people to use on social media to attention seek. All this shite about "it's ok to not feel ok". It does a huge injustice to people that have the actual disease.
Depression is absolutely not the same as grief and it is not feeling "down".
I know a girl that got dumped and the very next day had filled her social media with nonsense about being depressed and being on anti-depressants. You can't just get depression from being dumped ffs!
Actual signs of depression are when you literally do not give a shit about anything. Absolutely nothing matters. You are completely incapable of finding any joy or contentment in anything. You will find humour in absolutely nothing. If you are depressed, you will not be going to work. You will not be going to school or colege. It will be a complete irrelevance to you. You wont even be getting out your bed for anything other than to take a piss. You stop eating meals. You don't wash. You literally do not give a shit. That is the hallmarks of the disease called depression.

How do I fix it man
[–]bahgahz0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
For some people, depression is physiological, e.g. there may be a shortage in certain trace elements like zinc, or hormones can be messed up. I found 80% of my depression disappearing if I take multivitamins every day. I try to contain the other 20% by going to the gym every 2-3 days. I only have a major depression spell once or twice a year, rather than every month, and only when I become lazy. I also found the keto diet helpful, as consuming carbs since to set off binge-eating, which in turn is highly correlated with triggering depression.
Thank you! Eating is definitely a huge responsibility for me. Having to keep a clean kitchen and cook etc. meanwhile being utterly useless is tough! I’ve been going to the gym as well and it’s nice.
[–]My-CA-alt-1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
He's not completely wrong. Depression cannot be cured by a doctor in the same way, say, an inflamed appendix can be, a long term solution requires the patient to work on his thinking and behaviour with or without a therapist. However, to get to the point where the patient is capable of doing that some antidepressants usually help tremendeously.

You don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
Strange, when I search for truth, I listen much more than I talk.
That's like saying "Cancer is a battle with oyurself, cure it by punching yourself [...]"
Another logical fallacy. Appeal to the absurd. Associate what I'm saying through broad, unsupported generalization, in order to tie me to an absurd concept. The goal of this is to evoke comedy. When you're laughing -- you're not thinking. Try for yourself.
This blanket assertion is then used as a false postulate to jump into a logically invalid conclusion:
Depression is a disease.
There it is, the helpless. Asserted and shown through logical fallacy. Do you want to heal?
It's not [literally the definition of depression]
Lol.
It's an objective medical fact
Now you're arguing that psychology is "medical fact." Freud says you want to fuck your mom. Do you? What if you don't? Oh right -- he's discredited now because we're under new theories.
Also repeating statement based off the fallacy assertion of postulate previously mentioned.
Somebody should teach you about the scientific method. Maybe, you could teach yourself?
Having actual medical depression
Emphasis, mine. Again, repeating the fallacy-obtained invalid postulate. Third time in a row, I know people who really like doing things three times.
having a serious brain injury
Okay, I'll accept that maybe if you get impaled through the brain with a rod, you could lose the ability to feel happy. It requires logical thought. Depression is surrender. You are losing the battle against yourself. Do you like being a loser? I like being a winner, personally.
Your brain not functioning correctly
Excuses, excuses
Impacting your personality
You have no control! Woe is you! A feather in the wind!
Jesus
Yes.
maybe people like you should try and get over your mental retardation
Fuck, now I'm dumb. Is this a shaming tactic? Is this further cognitive dissonance on the part of the writer? Both?
reading a fucking book.
Oh, I have. I think that's your problem, with me. You hate not being right. Because you hate yourself. Can't grow if you can't change -- can't change if you reject that you are wrong. Acceptance is the first step in recovery.
Wish you the best!

Oh my god. I’m speechless. Hahahahaha this is so amazing. It’s way too fucking true. I was very depressed. I needed distractions all of the time just because I was afraid to think. I started therapy and working out. I put real effort into both and started seeing changes. That pushed me to try other things and showed me that no matter what you only get results when you are ready to put in the real work that it takes. I like your concept on weekend being no different than the week. I want to think on that one some more

It's not the most popular opinion, but turning to drugs to help you... isn't really helping you.
One of my friends has ADHD, he actually quit the meds because it fucked with his mind too much. He said he left him in a cloud and drained the life from him.
And besides... I'm sure the big pharma would love to turn you towards their drugs, whether you need it or not. Because profits.
Not everything is fixed with drugs. If you don't want to be fixed, you won't get fixed. Drugs or no drugs.

[–]NoMammMan4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women. Women can cause the worst of life problems and bullshit. Women! They're the cause of most traffic, and men busting their asses on the grind daily and going towards a shit grave of pain and turmoil just to put a smile upon the gynocentic narcissistic faces of selfish cunt whores. Give the credit where it's due. We give many bad things that in life credited towards Men, but most of it is the cause of women, but ultimately, it is most of man's fault, due to the fact that most guys are a bunch of simping ass manginas and beta bluepill orbiting cucks and white knighting bastards that need to be mobbed deep and beat the fuck up real hard before they realize that fucking with other mens shit will just end up screwing up the system for themselves and everyone else in a multitude of unforseen ways they've never throughout to be possible until it's all too late. Thankfully for most guy's, we have pussy ass shit laws that protect them and long sentences for standing up for shit that should be perfectly right to do so as a man...at least animals in the wild get a change to defend and battle shit out for what's rightfully theirs unlike coward shit creeper sabotaging ass sneaky shithead retards that play a bunch of endless twisted ass evilshit dishonest Niccolò Machiavellian games with each other over stupid meaningless CUNTS! They only ever really offered up to men one or two things at best, and we've always just ended up never truly getting along and supporting each other and maintaining world peace as a whole all due to the greed of man and stupid lame ass insecurities and power struggles of toxic male masculinity! More like insecure shithead selfish egocentric beta ass simping immature weak ass masculinity IMO! Not real and man enough to front everything outright there on the table for better or worse to embrace one's own strength and weaknesses, and just be fairly honest to the degrees and levels where one can do onto others as everyone wants done onto themselves, and to fight like a man with real honor and play no chicken shit ass disrespectful ass games! The animal world is way more alpha and real than the worldly lives of most humans. They hunt/kill what need be, and they challenge and earn their shit respectfully for the most part. But men....many men are fucking wussbags of dishonorable shit in their own ways and mostly towards other men because they do hella bs for women and ones that aren't even their own...they don't have the balls or anything to take shit straight out in front of another man as an animal....most guys got everything all assed backwards! We need to start being more animal in someways, and more human in others, but everything is just so off balance because there's just way too many bastards and mangina father's, ain't shit slut whore mother's, and dumb shit asshole sons of these no good bitches in this world, and slut whore dirty filthy shady cunt whores around controlling and overrunning this bitch ass shit thanks to a stupid ass legal system and worthless shithole government! But each mangina and Chad or whoever after reading this real shit now has got a choice, to change for the better, and start treating other men with respect and not being a chicken shit snake douchebag in how they conduct themselves, or to risk facing an early ass death or the world becoming over thrown by gynocentic slut icequeen princess bitches that will enslave us all and metoo you and your grandchildren after divorce rape our asses to the cleaners and God only knows what else! Think shit is bad now it can always get far worse and it surely will for all men if men don't get their values and respectful honor shit in a fair flowing line of operation together ASAP and shut these hoes off! Cut off all their unfair resources to shit they do not deserve! All shit they'd use against us unfairly! All shit that turns them evil whores against us even if it's just simply all men outting these scheming whores and not fucking each other over them for any reason at all times. Grow respect for men and invest into men... you'll always get some shit real back whereas with women you won't really get shit but pain and regret and betrayals. Mgtow forever! Even if I went purple!

Yeah, I used to drive a lot, working in places nowhere close to where I wanted to live. Tons of traffic on the way, because apparently nobody else did, either.
Honestly, the drives turned into the best parts of my day. I'd pick some great albums to explore. Folks be staring at me because I'm singing my head off or head banging or whatever and having a great time, they're all bummed and sour because shit's not moving.
On the way back at night, I'd get to catch the sunset, or the moon. Was beautiful, I figure it's not much different than taking a walk, other than I'm not in control of my pace. I am in control of my ability to take notice of the good things, however. Also, gave me a ton of time to really think through things... have hypothetical conversations with people, whatever. Just gotta stay stimulated. That's something you give yourself.
Think about why any moment during the weekend is better than the week. Are you physically less able to take note of the beauty in the world? To ponder? Or is it maybe an attachment... the false belief that "I could be happy if only..." ? What is the change? Are you really gaining anything when you let yourself be happy, some super powers, maybe? Or are you just finally letting go on the weekends, because you have achieved the perceived need?

You can have it. You can beat the surrender within yourself that is depression. It may not be a quick thing, you need to go through and identify why you're the way you are now, where you need to be, and make the change to get you there.

Oh man, you gotta get off them SSRIs. You know the original SSRI? Cocaine. But these are engineered differently.
There's a reason >95% of mass shooters in America take SSRIs. Fuck being nice -- that shit is poison to your mind, and is not only preventing you from healing, but is forcing you into perpetual downward direction.
If you choose to try to get off, it's going to be an awful month or so. Think about a crack addict quitting -- very similar. But I promise you, ending the permanent 'serotonin psychosis.' is worth it. Look it up. Heavily associated with amphetamines (causes excess serotonin to be created) and cocaine (A serotonin re-uptake inhibitor, [as well as dopamine and norepinephrine]). You're on that, all.the.time.
I don't want to sound like I'm attacking you, I'm not. I've done a ton of study into this kind of thing..... I'm really trying to help.
Believe not what I say as true because I say it, but believe what you have proven to yourself to be true.
I've given you the terms, research. Reconcile.
Or don't. Up to you.
[–]PussyLunch1 point 6 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I feel ya man, but I was in a dark spot, and through coping mechanisms and the medicine, I am doing better, so I’m going to stay on it. There’s going to be 50 people saying get off of it and another 50 saying stay on it. It’s all the same.
[–]MenGoingTOWin1 point 6 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I don't think you do. And that's the problem -- you're literally on drugs which are preventing you from being able to see the cause of your problem.
Hell, put me on a heroin IV drip and lay me in bed all day, I'd think I was doing better, too. Or put me in a coma, I'd be a lot less sad.
There’s going to be 50 people saying get off of it and another 50 saying stay on it.
Yeah, that's because most people don't know anything about it. Look at the other comments in this post, there are other testimonials of people who have actually gotten their lives back on track and had real recovery by getting off the SSRIs.
I absolutely, 100% promise you, that you will find exactly zero people who have ever been cured by such. Just people who have become unable and unwilling to actually solve their own problems, and given up completely on life. Zombies.
This is why I have given you the terms to research, "serotonin psychosis" or "serotonin syndrome." That's why I've explained to you how SRI is the mechanism of action of cocaine... That things like heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, amphetamine, and SSRIs all cause the same issues. But fentanyl bad, SSRIs good, because they can make a lifetime slave of you, legally, with the latter?
You will find in this post folks like me who provide actual science for you to reference, and ask you to find the truth for yourself... you'll find people who have been in your shoes and have gotten off the garbage, saving their lives. Hope.
And then, you'll find people whose entire argument is logical fallacies and shaming language... because the science and evidence is clear and 100% certain on this fact: you are killing yourself with poison.
It's all the same.
The complete apathy and unwillingness to seek knowledge or recovery -- a symptom of serotonin psychosis.
I can't save you, for you. And nobody is coming to save you, either. You're going to have to save yourself, and that's a choice. The longer you stay on the poison, just like a drug addict... which you now are, it will become harder and harder to leave.
Research some of the topics, if you want. Avoid fake news like webmd, mayo clinic, wikipedia, etc. I have lost many friends through suicide and otherwise because of their insistence on ignorance and obsession with escaping life. I have both helped and witnessed many others who have decided to step-up and save their lives. Can't force you into one category, or the other, that's your choice, and yours alone... if you can even still think for yourself, anymore. I can only hope that you choose life... it's a beautiful thing.
Don't let them convince you that you are broken. Remember: your "doctors" only benefit from you remaining sick.
I'm hoping and praying, for you. <3
I may have ADHD too. Might get placed on ADHD medication, is that bad too?
You don't have ADHD. It doesn't exist.
It is yet another way to control you through government mandated addiction.
The Nazis actually invented that form. Everyone who was within three degrees of Hitler had to take methamphetamine, or later, its analog, dextroamphetamine (now known as adderal).
It's literally meth.
The way it works is by moving you into a slow addiction in order to control your dopamine (reward) systems. Dopamine is released naturally when you experience something new, as well as a reward for things like sex. When your dopamine system becomes completely drained and dependent instead on amphetamines (or similar), then you stop seeking anything new, because you're already getting your "fix" as an alternative to life.
This worked well for the Nazis in that it enforced obedience and conformity, both naturally and through the thread of withdrawal.
When I was young and wouldn't take that garbage willingly, they would restrain me and force it down my throat. It made me into a horrible person -- imagine, a meth addict... as a child. Instead of chasing the wonder of the world, always being in serotonin psychosis or jonesing for my next hit.
Getting off that shit was the best thing I ever did as a child. After which, I spent many years one-on-one with people helping them to break free from the same.
Anyway, I'd give you another long write-up, but I can see you don't actually care. If you did, you'd be looking into this stuff already. In fact, you probably have... because I already mentioned it in previous replies, so you're just repeating yourself now.
I feel real sorry for you, man. I do hope you can choose life before it's too late, and I do hope it's not already too late.
I mean fuck man, I don’t know what to do. I feel like the Lexapro is helping and if shit like Addreal could help too, then why would I deny myself of that?
Why do you think it's "working?" Why don't you want to address anything I am asking you to investigate, instead you just want to stick to generalities, and keep asking me?
I can't make you do better, but I will tell you there is a choice.
I’ve looked up the stuff. I’ve thought this way before too. I’m against medicine, I am, but when nothing else is working and you feel a certain way, you’re ready to give in, and I’m ready. Besides, I’ve looked on the ADHD sub and Lexapro sub a shit ton and I see a lot of stories about how the medicine has helped. People say it’s a night and day difference, like they finally feel normal.
I’m seeing a psychiatrist soon, there’s a lot to go over and discuss. Maybe I’ll get off the lexapro and just see about the ADHD medicine.
Alright then.
Just please don't try to push the black pill on others. Some are smart enough here to spot logical fallacies, I have been mentioning them a lot over the last several days, for a reason...
[–]PussyLunch2 points 6 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Bro, everyone is different. We have people with mental retardation, and yeah, that’s an extreme, but you see my point, genetics matter here, and that sure as hell means mentally too. My path is my own. right, that’s the MGTOW right. Just like you are preaching don’t take it, there’s going to be people saying take it. I’ve been better since I’ve been on the medication, now whether that’s my own doing or just the chemicals, who gives a fuck, I’m in a better spot.
And I’m not going to push anything on anyone not unless I think it can help. You get one life and I get one life, if you want to parade around and preach how everyone is better off the shit, fine, I know you are coming from the right place, I know you care, and thank you, I mean really, thank you. I see you care, I really do. But I’m trying to survive here and not potentially take my car off the road to end everything, if being on a pill means I’m not really living, fuck it, it doesn’t matter anyways.
It’s complicated as fuck. But like I said, I’m meeting with a psychiatrist and will see what happens, that’s all I got bro. All I got. I’m desperate here.
You're right. You've become far too weak and easily triggered by anger. Both are from serotonin psychosis.
Yet you still can't help preaching that you are helpless. Did you know people survived before drugs? Did you know more survive after them, than on them? It's almost like this prescribed helplessness is the easy way out, because the world is too horrible and there's no way to change it. That's black pill. That's /r/braincels . This is MGTOW -- red pill. We choose our own paths, we seek truth no matter how painful, and we reject bullshit. Slaves to no-one.
I don't mean to indicate, and you know I am not indicating that you should listen to anybody but yourself. I've even quoted you on not believing me but proving the truth to yourself. This is red pill. This is not how your relationship with your 'psychiatrist' exists. You are letting them think for you as an omnipotent source of truth, despite not even being a real science. That's blue pill.
What I am trying to say is that I will not stop speaking the truth, I will not stop speaking-out against voluntary slavery, I will not stop encouraging people to live and think for themselves. I will not preach surrender, and I will not preach ignorance. What I am saying is that if you choose to do so, you will be countered by logic and fact, none of which you have chosen to address or discuss. Your logical fallacies will be pointed out to yourself and others to see how you choose to control the narrative rather than point towards truth.
I'm desperate here.
I bet you are.
I’m not angry at all man, weak, probably, tired, hell yeah,I’m just constantly getting different advice from so many people, I don’t know what I should really do. Deep down I want to get off the Lexapro, but again, I feel better since I’ve been on it, why would I question it if I’m doing better?
I went to the ER myself because of how awful I felt. I don’t want that feeling again. And here’s the other thing, this isn’t permanent, I’ll eventually try to get off of the lexapro. I mean shit man, life isn’t permanent, this is all temporary anyways.

Yeah brah, I'm a troll. You caught me. All my volunteered time here has just been an elaborate ruse to troll you, right here, right now.
Since you caught me, I guess that's why you're not addressing anything I'm saying and having a real conversation about it. Or maybe you're just not interested in healing... you like the easy crutch of an excuse. "Not my fault, not my problem. I'm broken!"
Guess I was born with "genetic happiness" but it was some sort of dormant gene that didn't activate until I did the work to take responsibility and control of my life. Strange, how that works. I'd ask you to defend the science behind it, but you're not even willing to discuss philosophy, and instead just resort to logical fallacies "everyone knows." If you believe in that trope, here's one for you: Everyone knows that Donald Trump is a moron. Same fallacy. You gotta support both, or neither.
Let's keep going, I'm having loads of fun!

You’re doing a giant disservice to everybody that reads this.
Telling a person with depression that they “just need to stop being sad!” is at best incredibly naive, and at worst is a gigantic asshole move that will do nothing but harm people with a crippling medical condition.
I see a bit of where you’re coming from - just like somebody with a broken leg needs to contribute and do physical therapy to get healthy, a depressed person has to work to get better. But, based on your comments and responses, I suspect that you’re a fairly emotionally immature person and that nothing anybody says will change your mind.
This is not for OP, he’s likely lost, but for anybody reading this. Your depression isn’t self-induced by a desire to stay in bed and eat junk food. Anybody that tells you that is a snake oil salesman or malicious. You have a medical problem, and one of (but not exclusively) the steps you need to get better is to seek professional help.

He stole from another sub and probably didn't put much thought into posting here other than easy karma

Agreed. Depression is a disease of the brain to some varying degree. Some people have it on the light side and can process through it and understand it for what it is, and get around it with the right willpower. Others, however, have a completely dysfunctional organ and require more intense treatment.
I think this mindset is put into motion by seeing the people who are just lazy and whine about getting out of bed or going to the grocery store, while citing "mah anxieties". See that BS on Twitter all the time.
Ugh

“Your depression isn’t self induced”
More people need to hear this. Thank you.

But it can be... a lot of shit you make up in your own head that is so far from reality and when you continue to stew on that and think on it the sad part is that it becomes your reality. I’m not saying that it’s the persons fault for having depression. For some people’s it’s easier to fall down into that hole and it’s unfortunate I for sure have been there and it’s not fun. I was there for years and never thought i was going to get out. Once I started going to therapy and truly trying to work on myself that all changed

Love this shit. Too many people sit inside all day eating shitty food getting fatter wondering why they're unhappy. It's cause they're fucking fat. If you step on a Lego barefoot your body sends a signal to the brain indicating pain. If you're fat as most Americans are these days and depressed it's a signal from your body to your brain saying this sucks fix it. Too many people in here getting mad because they're still on the bluepill about depression. The same people telling you to work a shitty 9-5 to support a fat wife calling your racist all day are the same people telling you to take a pill for your depression. They also tell you not to be angry. You know why they do that? Because angry men fight back

Man I thought MGTOW had more maturity than that. One guy has a unpopular view and people attack him. Just like how those cucks attack you when you say something unpopular on their r/immacuck.
Woke but not woke enough to handle a opposing viewpoints without getting mad.

That's not depression. That's being sad about your dog dying or something. Genuine depression is an actual medical condition with biological causes, not just "feeling down" or something that can be "gotten over" by "Manning up" "Having a better attitude" or whatever other fucking stupid platitudes people that want to conflate legitimate mental illness with life's normal ups and downs would like to tell you.
Stupid cartoon, stupid cartoonist and stupid poster.

Depressions due to being broke, low status, lacking a future, no friends, no girlfriend, shitty situations etc.
That's a cause for depression and is "depression medically" acording to experts in the field. Now the obvious fix then isn't a pill when the case is laid out
It’s about putting in an actual effort to better yourself. It’s not just “hey feel better!” That will solve it all right there done and done. Depression is a serious thing but a lot of people do use it as a crutch or an excuse to give up. You have to be the one to want the change. I was pretty far down the hole from some extremely traumatic shit but I either had the option of giving up and accepting that or fighting through and getting myself out to try and find happiness. It’s something you have to work at every day and it’s not easy but it’s worth it

I'll consider my other reply to be sufficient, as this is just a shorter version.
You must be really mad, you just trogged out some words, and then were so mad you had to do it again! Ha! Calm yourself. I'm calm.

I had three years of my life where i didnt feel like doing nothing, i just stopped in time and even though i wanted to get out of that shit situation i couldnt because i had no motivation to do anything, imagine a 20 years guy doing nothing day after day and being maintained by his parents.
I know that situation is so hard to get through but in the end i learned that mindset plays a big role in getting over it. Every fucking day, no matter how sad i was or in disbelief in myself in the end i knew i was gonna get over it.
I have never seen someone say this but i developed a mentality that helped me get over depression, i started to voluntary do things that would make me suffer the most, if i could not be happy in life so i just wanted to feel the hell.
Day after day i started to look for things that were way out of my comfort zone to be put in shit situations just for the sake of it. Slowly i started to develop goals, discipline and dreams that i never had.
I learnt that instead of looking for the end goals, we should learn to enjoy the process and the bad things that come with it and then we can enjoy life much better.
If i just kept that mentality of wanting to get over it, or if i had given up i would probably still be miserable. Make your life a hell, do any other shit but NEVER play the victim dont matter how hard the situation is, this victim mindset of "theres nothing i can do, its over" is so self destructive and will snowball things out of control.
Also attaching myself to the philosophy of MGTOW helped me insanely.
I have no idea if it was clinical depression or not because i never sought for help, but it taught me that mindset plays a very important factor in everything we do (It might sound obvious but many people just think about it when they are facing extreme situations)

Some of the ignorance being spouted on this thread is utterly infuriating. I'd probably get banned if I typed what I want to right now.
All these people self proclaiming they were "depressed" but thought positive and won through in the end. I'm all for positive thinking and improving yourself but let's be honest, for 95% of people posting here, you did not have clinical depression. Just because you got dumped, lost your job, or you were a problem teenager or young 20 something who sat in their mum's basement feeling like shit with no motivation, and eating shit, playing video games, does not mean you have depression. Depression isn't grief, sadness or lack of motivation. You can absolutely get stuck in a horrible and destructive cycle with your life going seemingly nowhere. It still doesn't mean you have depression.

Are you still pushing this? I don't think anyone is paying attention to you two, anymore.
But yeah,
The situation is hopeless! You'll never get better! Whatever you do: do NOT change your attitude and perspective on life!
^ Obviously this is the kind of guy you want to listen to when you want to make your life better. * shrug *
