Holy shit this was my ex.

So, I started getting red flags when I was helping her move. She was a lot like me- we connected on an INSANE level, just perfect "got it," because we also had the same mental/personal shortcomings, and I thought we could help one another deal with those issues.

In general, we both had timeliness issues, problems relating to other people, and so on. But when it came down to it, she still had a lot of hoarder tendencies that I'd resolved at 17, and fitness issues to boot. She was a lot older than I was, too.

The more I learned about her past, the more unsettled I became. Danced in a cage at raves? Check. She had a ton of really skanky stuff that didn't fit her anymore which came to surface when helping her move to a smaller apartment (which was done to help her deal with her clutter issue). She also did a lot of drugs when she was younger.

Then she got a fertility test. Got a score of 6. Six!

I know thirty-five year olds who have a score ten times that rate, who harvested 14 eggs, 10 of which were "viable," and of those, only "one" had enough good DNA to form a "possible," and even that was a highly questionable prospect. Tens of thousands of dollars down the drain for nothing.

Her doc was selling her a pipe dream- "we could get (up to) three viable eggs!" Not mentioning that's an extreme outlier, and that's "per cycle" and per cycle, it's more likely a single egg, of which its viability is likely less than 50%, and its combinant likelihood is at less than 3%, and even if it then is viable and good, seeing if her womb accepts it and lets it mature (of which like, half don't make it to term/a year.)

What a disaster.

I bailed. I did the only thing I really could. She's wrecked by it, and I feel awful. Her parents say her soul is wounded.

She had basically put maternal instincts toward work and human-robot interactions, treating the robotics as a kid. Then, I apparently came along and "suddenly things were possible that I hadn't even thought about!" and then I basically dashed those dreams.

I think I might've given her a shot at 18-23, before she really got into the harder stuff (which probably affected her fertility rating, tbh), and before she really spun out. When she had decent eggs. I know, goes against the grain of the sub- but I do think she and I had a very real connection. I don't think that she 'almost had her claws in me' or anything like that. It's just a shame that I think her at 23 wouldn't have been so crazy about me. It's like she wanted a "good man" with a steady job/promising future/starting a family and such... when she couldn't do those things.

You know you shouldn't really concern yourself to much over women's feelings. I saw a woman in tears once because a printer was out of toner. I don't think emotions really register with them the same way they do with us.

The upside of this sort of thing is the damage that would be done to her children being raised by a woman like that. Very likely they would see their parents divorce and put up with a crazy narcissistic and promiscuous mother.
