I work for a large technology company as a developer. We had a delivery this week and life has been hectic (massive understatement) in order to meet this deadline.

I'm on a small, understaffed team of 3 people. One guy is part-time and the other is a lead and spends about half his day in meetings every day. I'm the only dedicated full-time developer on this team. If I don't do it, it doesn't get done. It's as simple as that. The part-timer is fucking useless and it's often quicker for me to do my own work as well as his rather than wait for him to do it himself. He fails to understand the simplest concepts no matter how many times I try to teach him. He's not a young guy either.

With the impending deadline I took it upon myself to stay very late probably 20 nights and come in several weekends over the past couple of months. My personal life has taken a massive hit but I chose to make that sacrifice because I love my job and want the team to succeed. I've had to skip numerous meetings and have occasionally slept in the next morning because I was at the office until midnight.

However, today I was called into a sit-down with management. They informed me that skipping these meetings (to do actual work) and getting in at 9:15 is unacceptable. Some of the higher-ups have noticed and are not happy about it. I told my manager that they need to be enlightened to the fact that I routinely stay far later than should rationally be expected and have given up weekends for this team. All things considered I failed to see how skipping morning standup a few times is such an egregious offense.

I also told them that skipping the morning meeting was a direct product of the late-nights and now that I've *almost singlehandedly delivered the product 5 days early* I planned to start attending with more regularity. And regarding the day meetings, I simply had more pressing matters than to listen to SW architects argue over design patterns.

If I really wanted to drive the point home I guess I could've forwarded about 15 emails from more senior engineers thanking me for my dedication and excellent work. Perhaps that would've been overkill though.

I was told, in no uncertain terms, that if the behavior continues it could affect my performance review, i.e. my raise. It fucking chaps my sack that I give up my own time to ensure that a quality product is delivered as needed and yet I get chastised for skipping useless meetings and, god forbid, sleeping in a half hour later than normal because I stayed until midnight to make sure we met the deadline. For god's sake the PM even sent out an email to the entire program recognizing me!

I've been on several teams at this company and have had nothing but good experiences. I have never felt like a small cog in a giant machine at this company until today. They pay well and the benefits are excellent. I believe in the work we do, but to be honest this is fairly discouraging and frankly rather ungrateful.
