Rather obvious, isn't it? This is an evaluation of income, not salary.

1.) A much smaller percentage of same-sex couples have children. Fewer children means more time to work, more disposable income to put into wealth-generating instruments.

2.) Same-sex couples are more likely to live in liberal coastal cities, where cost of living, and thus base salaries, are much higher than the interior of the country.

This is household income. Gay men probably marry men of similar status, while women's hypergamy drops the average. I bet if you compared the 4 individual incomes, straight men would be at the top and straight women at the bottom.
