Women don't go for high paying jobs, and even when they do they don't make a counter offer during the hiring process, nor are they assertive enough to ask for raises after they've been working there for a while. Plus they then want to take off tons of time for kids/etc.

Eliminating these variables, they get paid the same.

The real discussion that needs to happen is about their lower productivity on average.

No, the wage gap doesn't exist: women working the exact same job with the exact same credentials make the same or even more than men per hour. The earnings gap does exist, and that's because as a group women participate in the labor market at a lower rate and, when they do, they work fewer hours.

Here's the stats from the BLS:

this shows that women participate in the labor market at a rate 10% lower than men in terms of absolute population. If you normalize it to the men's participation rate, women participate ~14% lower.

This shows that as a group, women work nearly an hour less per day than men on average. That's ~12% fewer hours which, when coupled with the 14% above, gives the result that women earn ~73 cents for every dollar a man earns. It's not that they're paid less, it's that they work less.

its about life choices. men work longer hours, more dangerous jobs, are more willing to move to find work, work in more extreme conditions. the wage gap is taken across ALL jobs and ALL women. a recent study showed that men work, on average, 44 hours a week while women work, on average, 38.

Its an earning gap, atleast that is what they refer to as the wage gap. Meaning that we take all working women and all working men take their salaries, add them up (so the totale ammount of women salaries versus the total amount of men salaries), and divde that sum among the group of women and men, then turns out that women make 77% of what men make. Ofcourse this is not the wage for the same job or anything (you cannot calculate it like that) but some idiots claim that. Others claim how is it possible in an world which ought to be gender equal there is quite a big gap in earnings. Then the answer is according to feminsm sexism, or instutionalized sexism, or patriacry. We ofcourse cannot exclude that as being a contributing factor, or mabye the sole cause, but common sense shows other variable which attribute to this earning gap. For example women tend to persue degrees which have lower paying jobs in the end, or women tend to get pregnant and not persue a career as hard as a man would, or women tend to have lesser assertive psychological traits which helps with salary deals and or bonus deals. To sum up there are multiple reasons more which can contribute to the earning gap.

And then there are the countries which are more gender neutral according to feminst, in which the wage gap is the same or bigger, simply because women tend not to pursue high paying jobs and or careers. And in those more equal geneder societes you would argue that wage gap should become smaller otherwise it cannot be sexism. Conclusion these are either not more gender neutral societies, or sexism has nothing to do with the earning gap.

In my mind I view it that there is a variable with sexism which limits women in getting the same jobs as men, but this was more of the sexism we found a couple generations back. These women are now grandmothers, or old thropy wifes and the men are in general at the top of their field, But if you look at the new working generations (18-30 years old) women are out earning men, also women are getting better degrees, more degrees, have more college degrees, ect ect. So the wage gap is reversing. So I guess sexism has some rol but not the big role feminsim claims it to be.

Have you ever had a female coworker have to leave work to pick up a sick child from school? How about a male coworker? What’s the ratio between them as to how often this happens? Are the workers stuck having to pick up the slack really doing “equal work”?

There is definitely a "[taxable] earnings gap"...

Due primarily to womens' choice of career/field/industry, unwillingness to work overtime or take on "dirty tasks" and things that are risky (and thus earn the rewards, OR suffer the losses).

But there is no "wage gap" (and no "salary gap" either); if anything women are generally OVER-compensated -- especially relative to actual competence/merit/work they provide in return.

And then when you add in things like "benefits" -- particularly health insurance -- men, especially young SINGLE men, are dramatically UNDER-compensated, as (being healthy and having a very low insurance liability cost) they effectively subsidize those benefits for women & married men (even more so those with kids/families).

It is ‘real’ but it’s calculated by the misuse of statistics. It’s an average figure that doesn’t compare like for like and doesn’t factor in a variety of reasons why women end up doing the jobs they do.

Something exists - wage gap, income gap, whatever you want to call it.

It's easy to solve though. A large part of it is because women have more responsibility for family care than men. To solve that, either:

a. men can take on more responsibility for family care to equal everything out. This is not in men's nature, and some women would complain because they have always wanted to be a SAHM.

b. Simps could stop impregnating women. No one has to care for family (at least children), and in about 100 years the scourge that is humanity will be removed from the earth.
