Well think about it, even if there were a groom it's still pretty much a solo wedding. Weddings are no longer about couples they are about brides. When my dad married my mom he said what will and will not happen. Look at it now. I just see my soon to be married friends sitting around a table full of women saying "get this and get that." Marriage and more importantly weddings are nothing more than financial transactions.

At least since the second half of the twentieth century, weddings have been a big expensive ME party for the bride. Everybody else is just an uncredited extra, including the groom. "Solo weddings" make it shamefully obvious.

tl;dr Marriage served a purpose once, but in 2016 it's just a soulless M->F cash grab. It needs to die. MGTOW.

I always forget about this and am always reminded. Every single wedding:

Bride/brides maid: blah blah blah hey groom, the only thing you have to remember from now on: "yes, dear" blah blah blah anti groom joking and rhetoric

Without fail, I hear this 'joke' whenever I go to a wedding. So from the very first day the groom is put down and made into the butt of a joke. Sure there are husbands who manage to control the household, but if I ever show up to a wedding and the best man is making "sammich maker" and "blowjob machine" jokes, even I would be shocked - that's just uncalled for. But okay and fair game if it's the groom.

That's my gut response to "weddings" - regarding the topic, this 'marrying yourself' trend seems to be spreading, and it's as hilarious as it would be if anybody else did it. What is the point of playing dress up when none of the actual value and glory is involved? The "spinster" has not found a man to leech, so what is she celebrating?

To me, it would be likened to me putting on military garb, posing like a doofus and posting the pictures on facebook "I just wanted to see what I would look like stealing valor"
