I’ve been following this sub for a few months now, and this will be my first post. So if I screw up somehow or go on too long, please bear with me. First, let me describe myself. I am a 69-year-old married, straight, white, nominally-Christian male. I’m old enough to remember seeing Elvis on the Ed Sullivan show, so I’ve seen it all, from the conformist nineteen-fifties to the 2018 #metoo craziness. I have two beautiful well-adjusted daughters and adorable three grandchildren from my first marriage, and I’m on my second marriage. So, from experience, I can give some advice about marriage. And that advice is, if you’re a guy –DON’T DO IT! Let me repeat that. DON’T DO IT! Or at least think VERY CAREFULLY about it. Marriage is a bad deal for men, especially these days. Unless you want children, there should be no earthly reason to marry. I grew up with a distant abusive mother who ultimately betrayed me. I was a 24 year old dumb, horny, clueless guy when I married my first wife. She was gorgeous and I felt lucky beyond belief to have her, but soon found out looks aren’t everything. She was cold, combative, controlling and lousy in bed, and I almost left her until I found out she was pregnant with my first daughter. So I stuck with her, and three years later my second daughter came along. I did my best to get along with her, but finally, after twenty years we reached a breaking point, and divorced. Of course she got the kids, half my assets, and I got child support and alimony payments. I kept my kids in my life and managed to climb out of my rut and get financially sound again. But I hadn’t learned my lesson. I was so afraid of being alone and desperately wanted another partner. Why? This was before my Red-Pill, MGTOW awakening and I hadn’t learned to be comfortable with my aloneness. I met another woman with grown up children, and she was pretty, pleasant, soft-spoken and agreeable – so I thought. After two years of dating, she moved into my condo. I began to notice some strange things about her, and red flags began to pop up. But my head was still in a blue-pilled fog, and I dismissed my reservations. Stupidly, still brain-dead, I married her. Fast forward fourteen years later. I’m in a joyless, sexless, non-intimate marriage to the woman, who does not care about me, has spent all my money on HER passion – dogs and cats and who has no respect for me. We do not like one another and probably would divorce if it were not for financial reasons. So, we are stuck together, at least for now. In 2012, I discovered A Voice For Men, then Karen Straughan Girl Writes What videos and finally other MRA and MGTOW sites. Alas too late for me. I’m screwed, but I take FULL responsibility for my predicament. But maybe I can find some salvation by using my situation as an example to others guys. Even though I’m married, I’m a full MGTOW internally, and if I ever got free, I would chop both my feet off before getting involved with another woman. So you younger guys, steer clear of marriage. Yes, there are plenty of good marriages that last until ‘death do us part’, and there are good, decent women out there. But the odds aren’t good and the deck is stacked against you. When you get married, the woman is figuratively holding a gun to your head. She can refrain from shooting it and you can have a happy marriage, or she can at any time say “I’m not happy” and pull the trigger. She doesn’t even have to pull the trigger. She can just relentlessly nag and wear you down and strip you of your self-respect and dignity until you have no spirit left. So, if you are planning to marry, THINK, THINK, THINK first and study these posts carefully before making that fateful, life altering decision. Also, do a lot of self-analysis and ask why you want to get married and look for red-flags coming from her. I’ve gone long enough. I hope I didn’t bore you. I have much more to say but will do it in different smaller posts. Thanks to all the guys who have shared their stories.
