Ruined it with the mention of a GF honestly. Plus just this guys way of saying "don't eat cereal, watch cartoons, smoke or wank. Instead spend time with your nagging GF"
[–]GalacticLinx2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
or you cant just dont do that unhealthy stuff
and start improving yourself.
[–]ArtoriusXv0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Watching cartoons is unhealthy? Wanking is unhealthy?
[–]Swan_in_a_Cage 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Wanking makes you tired and stupid tbh...
[–]ArtoriusXv0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Source? I can't in good conscience just accept that without evidence.
[–]Swan_in_a_Cage 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
How about you go and test it out...unless you are a girl? Its pretty obvious. The effects linger for 24 hours... it's this "dry" feeling.
I mean...semen is made from the best blood. It DOES require energy to MAKE a human being...both physical and mental
[–]ArtoriusXv0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I wanked earlier, and I don't feel "dry or tired" or anything. I feel normal... maybe hungry afterwards but still.
[–]GalacticLinx0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Depends on frequency.
Anyway i was talking about cigarrettes, junk food. But mostly procastination
[–]ArtoriusXv0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

[–]GalacticLinx0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I like the simpsons too, family guy got too annoying for me personally. Lois was such a bitch and peter is a fucking retard. Much prefer american dad.

Yeah, not exactly a MGTOW happy ending there. However, the underlying message still resonates, being aware of attachments that cause suffering.
Oh I know that. I'm pretty attached to my video games and they cause most of my suffering lol.

Meh, I'll do whatever the fuck I want. Sure, I try to be good to people, kind and generous. But on my own time? Nah, son. I'll eat Froot Loops, get stoned, whatever else I feel like doing. Drop acid, snort some blow, whatever. Watch TV or play videogames or whatever. It's my time. Not his or yours or the other guy's. I'll do what I want with my time and you can do what you want with yours. I might think it's stupid, sure, but hey? It's your time. Fuck what I think about it. Who am I to tell you what to do? Who are you to tell me what to do?
[–]red_dread_redemption13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I upvoted you b/c I totally agree, it's Go Your Own Way, you do you, and find your own road.
But I think for a good portion of us, going MGTOW is a road to self-improvement and actualization while improving our quality of life. For others, drowning in a bowl of cereal maybe all the meaning and purpose they need in life. And damn do I miss devouring bowls and bowls of cereal.
[–]thetruthhuntsme2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
To be fair I do agree. This is where every dude keeps overlooking it and totally forget that on the right on this Reddit is "Misc" in the MGTOW HOSPITAL ADVISORY section -- it says "Schopenhauer." This article makes reference to Immanuel Kant, which, to be fair, came before Schopenhauer, and Kant was a smart dude and all but he came before Schopenhauer.
Kant specifically was a proponent of idealism. "Transcendental Idealism." In other words, fairytale idealism. He preached that knowing through prior experiences and knowledge, you would know what to expect. If that were the case, MGTOW wouldn't even exist because most of us would have a good 75%~ chance -at best- for actually entering a relationship and it actually being a mutual and positive one.
But Schopenhauer believed in "Philosophical Pessimism."
"Philosophical pessimism is not a single coherent movement, but rather a loosely associated group of thinkers with similar ideas and a family resemblance to each other. "
People that quote Kant are usually edgy 20s hipsters who pretend owning a book of Jean Paul Sartre makes them a fucking genius and anything you do is just deplorable. But Kant is before Schopenhauer's time, not to mention that Kant's writings were used in Marxism which is what special Snowflakes cling to as the one true politic ideology. Again, BECAUSE it's about 'transcendental idealism.'
Ideally, for instance, you guys are going to want to be happy. Fit. Strong. Powerful. Good looking. You can say no to anything. Read this article. Agree with it? Good. Be it. Live it.
Notice how this message lacks any real message. It's literally a series of words put together in effort to get you to make that change. But when I add this to the message:
Ideally, you guys are probably going to want to be happy. You may not be fit. You might not be strong. You might not be powerful or good looking or able to say no to anything. Maybe you'll read this article but I doubt you will. And whether or not you agree with it, take it as you will.
This gives the impression to the reader that they should use this information and know that they might be these things, they might not. By doubting as well, this gets the reader to actually read the article, and even makes a note that whether or not you read it you can take from it as you should.
This way, you don't have to take what Kant says at face value because honestly nobody should, Kant is not the godfather of philosophies.
In Schopenhauer's argument against post-Kantian idealism:
" According to Schopenhauer, Kant's original philosophy, with its refutation of all speculative theology, had been transformed by the German Idealists. Through the use of his technical terms, such as "transcendental," "transcendent," "reason," "intelligibility," and "thing-in-itself" they attempted to speak of what exists beyond experience and, in this way, to revive the notions of God, free will, and immortality of soul. Kant had effectively relegated these ineffable notions to faith and belief. "
So here, we see that in order to really understand this "idealism" the post was trying to make about freedom. "Morality consists of freedom, and freedom consists of reason's control over our physical desire."
This is somewhat true, but when you use philosophical pessimism:
"Morality consists of a freedom which, under the right conditions, we have control over; freedom consists of reason's control over our physical desire, if our desire is not stronger than our sense of freedom."
The thing is you are not going to be able to escape chemical desires. If you have sex to the point it is an addiction, your desire may be stronger than your ability to say "no," so the best you can do is control it so you have as much freedom as you can get. And that's where you guys will find your ceiling. You will only have as much freedom as you can get with your ability to say "no."
[–]Chill-BL0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Although I agree that Kants Ethics and morality is severly lacking.
With his assumption that people will naturally come to the categorical imperatives he so fondly described.
However his Critique of Reason, the approach to whats is to be known and what is to remain unknown I consider to be pretty well thought out. Which is where I kinda disagree with you:
Kant is not the godfather of philosophies.
Not in terms of Ethics, but his epistemological claims I think are indeed of great height.
(but that could be true for me as I'm: "edgy" 20 year old (the rest doesn't apply))

Morally by what measure? Who is the moral authority? In my case, it's me and I'll do as I fucking please.
[–]CmndrReggie2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If morality is left to be determined by the individual is devolves into the will to power all obstacles be damned. Then there is no way to say nazi ideology was repugnant. Moral relativism is not the way to go. There must be a moral standard regardless of who believes in it or not. “The measuring stick must be independent of thing being measured” C.S. Lewis
[–]kurtu54 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The only thing absolute is to leave other people alone if they are not harming others. 'Moral Relativism' is used a bludgeon to criticize these people, ostensibly claiming that 'Moral Absolutism' is a virtue while simultaneously going against the absolute moral of leaving others the fuck alone.
[–]kurtu52 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What moral is what is ethical and what is ethical is to piss off about what other people do and live your own short spark of a life in this cosmos.
[–]Baldrbaldr-4 points-3 points-2 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
By the measure of the ten commandments? Or the seven virtues?
[–]gbfyt3er24d2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I'm religious myself but pretty much everything any religion preaches can be summed down to the seven virtues and seven deathly sins.
[–]GamingYourMom3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Well, religion got a LOT wrong, so...
[–]gbfyt3er24d-1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
So did science but we don't bash it nearly as much, do we?
Learning from our mistakes is what moves us forward. The exact basis for one of the virtues (humbleness) and one of the sins (pride).
[–]kurtu52 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
We don't bash science because it changes with reason and evidence when it's wrong. Religion is never wrong. It is beyond critique.
[–]gbfyt3er24d-2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Not all religions are like islam, dude. I'm not catholic but even them apologized and changed their views on so many subjects. Some Pope even pardoned Copernicus and apologized about it.
Please, don't be so biased or extreme on your views.
[–]stoopididoit1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not all religions are like islam, dude.
They are in one (arguably the most important) respect, they teach you what to think unlike science which (when done correctly) teaches you how to think.
[–]kurtu5-1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
So Mary isn't just some woman who got knocked up and didn't want to tell her husband about it? It wasn't some magical god seed? See thats what the evidence points to. The evidence also points to Christ as a derivative construct from other existing beliefs at the time. Such as the concept of divine conception above.

[–]ManIsWalking15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Under what authority does this dude have to take the moral high ground? We all have vises, even this asshole. You feel the need to meditate every day? That's a vise. Need to work out every day? You're addicted to the endorphin release, it's a vise. Or if you're like this cuck here and feel the need to maintain a woman, another vise.
The idea that this poster feels that he can look down his nose at someone else because of the choices they make in life seriously pisses me off. Maybe image guy should clean up his act. But it is his decision to do so and no one else.
[–]elkeryos3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The endorphin you get by feeling superior to others are a free deal I guess, it doesn't count. Among other things. Also, doing something because you like it = addiction.... Ok sure. Being able to do something addictive ( = alcohol, whatever) and run away from it means that MAYBE you have the right to talk about this. And that's a maybe. Claiming "strength" and "moral superiority" because you run away from it, though... Not so much.
Note: I have absolutely NOTHING against straight edge people, not at all. But they are annoying when they claim moral superiority, PARTICULARLY in this post where the only thing there is to judge is a picture and we know nothing about the guy's habits. Be straight edge all you want, if you're doing it for your health, good for you, it still doesn't mean anything when it comes to ""morality"".

The sugar content of most cereals is still lower than soda and exponentially more nutritional. I think that's a safe indulgence.
[–]herpderpfeynman-1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
it's still refined sugar and the nutritional content of most cereals is a joke, very poor bioavailability as it's just "enriched & bleached wheat flour" with some vitamins sprayed on. Very very little fiber as well, which has no benefits.
Something like steel cut oats, blueberries, walnuts/almonds, ground flax & chia seed is actually nutritious and a satisfying meal.

Props to the happy dude doing whatever he wants with his Saturday. This moral police officer can suck a dick, what a party pooper. He's full of assumptions and opinions. MGTOW is about doing it your way, without any validation from women, or men. Remember Steve Jobs famous words "Stay hungry, stay foolish". Yes most women are children but the difference is that when men are children - we know it and we don't try to hide it. We're proud of our inner child and it's a damn shame when I see and meet man who've lost it. Your inner child is awesome and it's so important to feed it, who wants to be stoic 24/7? BORING.
[–]elkeryos2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
My biggest problem with philosophy, and the reason I hate philosophers but love philosophy, is how we take the "old ones" said as an absolute truth. Fucking Descartes is a prime example about this. Now that we can think that AI will be a thing soon, we can see that the whole "I think therefore I am" is bullshit, or just useless platitude depending of how you understand it. Kant is interesting but still fucking annoying from time to time.
Also, "addicted to xyz" yeah sure. Let's avoid talking about the effect of "testosterone addiction" on our body, okay? But this one and the fact of wanting to mate with anyone is ok because "it's natural". Ok, sure. It's just way closer to a drug addiction than what he's talking about but why not.
All in all it sounds a lot like a wannabe philosopher, not even a real fake one. Just someone that thinks that he's SO SMART because he just finished reading a book. Sadly enough most of them are of this kind.
Also, doing something despite your urges of doing it is different from doing something BECAUSE of your urges. The main difference being whether you are in control of said urges or not. when it comes to sex, given his comment about his girlfriend at the end, most people are not. When it comes to cereals and cartoons........ I'd bet most people are.
Damn "philosophy" and te people preaching it. Retard destroying another great thing again. With the power of school, no less (and yes, I had philosophy classes. They're terrible and discourage real thinking and flexibility, which are the most important thing to a philosopher, or a scientist for that matter.)
I fail to see how Descates' "cogito ergo sum" is wrong because soon machine minds will start claiming they "are" because they "think". Your brain is just a collection of nanomachines anyway.

I enjoy my vices and understand that in life all things come with balance.
One path is not necessarily better than the next, and all we have to gauge them with are our individual perspectives.
To some, children's cerial, drugs, and pornography are unacceptable. They claim that these vices supplant a desire to contribute to society.
"To what end?" I ask. Prove to me your society is worth contributing to.
We have one life, one perspective, one experience. If contributing to other's experience detracts from our own then to Hell with it.
The only sin is spending any time of your limited time doing something other than exactly what you want to do.

Who the fuck is this guy to tell people how they should live their lives and judge them by a single photograph?
I mean what a pretentious wanker. I've never seen someone try to dissect and analyze the process by which cereal and cartoons secretly, subconsciously make one miserable. He must proud of himself for stringing a bunch of big words together in a pitiful attempt to sound smart as he takes ludicrous shots in the dark as to what maybe, possibly, might be troubling this man deep down.
His argument is that people do things he doesn't approve of, and therefore they are miserable because he says they are.
And exactly how the fuck did girlfriends and porn get brought into this? Again, assumptions, stop making them.

I honestly love waking up to the sunrise on the weekends, taking a small jog or walk through the woods by my house, coming home to get a little stoned, then cooking eggs in a basket or steak and eggs, followed by either an hour or so of tv or internet with some coffee. [–]SimplyKaz0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's bullshit. Just a lot of pseudo-philosophy that makes way too many assumptions about a guy who likes to do what he loves on a Saturday morning.
This guy isn't fucking addicted to sugar or some shit, he's just staying connected to his childhood with a Saturday morning ritual. That's all. I'm actually a little jealous that I don't have something like this I can do and to look forward to.
I love philosophy but it's so easy to over analyze something simple and turn it into an existential, life questioning crisis. It's just cereal and weed for Christs sake.
[–]Ohboohoolittlegirl0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
hahahahahhaa... what the hell, such a long post about some picture. For me, freedom is to do whatever I want, and whether I have a dependency or a substance or not, does not limit perceived freedom. As long as I'm happy doing what I do, there is no-one to tell me I am wrong... If this addiction would hamper my happiness, my sense of self, it would be a different thing, but you cannot judge me.. you cannot tell me that your sense of morality, should be how I perceive this. Fuck anyone trying to tell me what to do or tries to analyze me based on a picture... That person is a cunt, nothing more nothing less and this persons morality really doesn't fucking matter to me
