Freedom of Speech isn't a freedom to exploit children!!!
[β][deleted] 44 points45 points46 points 5 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
These f@cking pedophiles hide behind the 2nd amendment while also hiding behind "hate speech" laws.
repulsive.

Hypocrisy at its finest. Though I'm not surprised, the left has no other tactics than to be huge hypocrites

[β]Klasiant13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Iβm not american, isnβt that the one that gives you the right to shoot pedos on sight?
[β][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
As a non-american with some knowledge about the U.S, I think the 2nd amendment is just the right to have and bear guns and such
[β]Klasiant7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Why would you arm a bear? No wonder there are riots in the US..
[β]ToddTheOdd2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I thought bears with guns was more of a Russian thang...

Hence the riots, I guess? You better bet the armed bears are signs of the russian interference I keep hearing about.

That's the one that allows you to own a gun and carry it for self-defense.

I think you mean the 1st amendment - "freedom of speech"
[β]sj2044230 points31 points32 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Child porn doesn't fall under the umbrella of free expression.
[β]Bitcoin_Bastard5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You Nazi!!!

These asshats don't seem to understand the concept of child sexual exploitation.
Fucking hell.

Doesn't Texas have the exact kind of child beauty pagents and other kind of bullshit this movie is depicting tho.
It's kinda weird that people get triggered at the soyflix show but not the fact that the activities it depicts are pretty widespread and mostly accepted in society.
[β]rocko200024 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
That's something I touched upon a while back and while I may have gotten carried away by my comments, I did trigger a few "conservatives". Especially since Texans love their cheerleading and their football, two activities which oddly enough contain minors pleasing adults. Now I'm not going to go as far as to say it makes all Texans into pedos, but it's still messed up.
Now a bit of an anecdote. I once ran into a couple of buds from back home who were heading to the county fair to see if they could score some knives. So I tagged along and we went into this one building. They had this beauty pageant featuring teens and children. They were going through the formal dress portion for little girls. It looked so bizarre because it's looked just like Toddlers and Tiaras. What was more bizarre was this group of men in the back just looking. So we left immediately.
[β]Throning4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think here the major difference is that those cheerleaders & pre-college football stars are "mature" enough to realize sexual exploitation for what it is, regardless of whether they'd agree that's what they're signing up for.
The children of Cuties, however, do not, and are completely at the whims of their disgusting parents who are submitting to that kind of pressure - that kind of exploitation - just to line their own pockets. I wouldn't expect them to be intelligent enough to set up any kind of account for the money their child earned, regardless of whether it was through being sexual exploitation or not.
[β]rocko200022 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You'd think cheerleaders and athletes would be more mature, but they get to college, and they end up proving us all wrong.
[β]cfuse0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I've always wondered why cops don't hang out at these places for an easy collar.
[β][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Couldn't agree more that Cuties is softcore kiddie porn. I would love to have seen them trying to get this film into the local cineplex. Mothers would have been picking theaters in protest.

There were actually screenings of it in the US scheduled, but a lot of college kids (of all people) got it cancelled.
Interesting.

Feminists gonna feminist. I can guarantee that they wouldnβt have lifted a finger if it were a movie with boys.

If there ever is a Civil War journalists will be one of the first groups rounded up and sent to prison for treason.

They are going after the wrong people. Netflix didn't produce this movie. It was produced in France by Bien ou Bien Productions and France3 Cinema.
Go after them instead.
[β]rocko200023 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
But Netflix is showing it in its service. Assuming Texas gets its way, Netflix may be liable for distribution of material that exploits children.
[β][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Netflix will state that this movie was rated as TV-MA by the FCC. Which is an agency of the United States Federal Government.
The FCC could have refused classification for this movie. Which would have stopped Netflix from being able to screen it in the United States. However they chose to rate it as TV-MA.
Making this film perfectly legal to screen as far as the federal government is concerned
Why not go after the FCC instead of Netflix?

Because we reached an impasse, we can say ALL are responsible. The producers, directors, casting agents, even the parents. Seriously, WHERE ARE THE PARENTS!?
[+]MKUltraExtreme2-7 points-6 points-5 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I have to disagree here, respectfully.
There was neither any actual sexual activity between the participants, nor any sort of explicit underage nudity.
And the director was clear that she wanted to highlight the loss of childhood, that is permeating their culture.
Although the fact remains that she could've downplayed it a bit, can't blame her for the work she did. And this work will be her legacy.
Besides, it's fairly tame compared to some of the other stuff we hear about.
If you're looking for actual sexualization of children, look up the movie Maladolescenza (1977). Seriously, you'd never do so again. It's disgusting.
[β]rocko200024 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I have to disagree. I've seen the more extreme scenes on YouTube since I refuse to watch the whole thing. It's pretty bad. Or you're going to tell me a scene where a girl pulls down her pants and takes a picture of her vagina with a phone is tame? Or before she does that she unzips her pants in front of a boy who may be related to her tame? No offense, but you're out of your mind.
As far as Maladolescenza, I'm not touching that with a 20 foot pole. Never seen it and I don't intend to see it.
The problem here is despite this film being subjectively rotten to the core legally it is a borderline case depending on how you read the law involved.
See here for a legal take.
