If we were all friends I'd suggest we move to some shitty, hated, or forgotten city (like Gary, Indiana), buy a bunch of old houses, get jobs at Home Depot and then just work the land like urban homesteaders. Imagine you and 5 buddies, all with adjoining backyards with a fire pit in the middle amidst gardens and orchards--spending the evenings talking about ideas, books, and crops.

Of course this would rapidly become a destination, so we'd have to go to Chernobyl or Fukushima to make sure no one really came.

IRL? Don't think so, but social trends are starting to shift (ever so slightly). Male spaces might become more acceptable soon. I'd join a monastery like that if that meant I could spend the rest of my days studying math and physics.

A secular monastery won't be able to keep women out. For that it'd have to be a religion. We need a version of Buddhism that doesn't say there's no self, and doesn't require living off alms food but allows the use of money, and that'd be perfect.

Once you spent enough time listening to MGTOW content, understood the concept of MGTOW, and admitted you are one, you come out of the red pill rage and you start doing the things that matter to yourself. That's very different from one man to another. Some will focus on sport, career, games, spirituality or whatever passion they have.

If you want an agenda and be part of a political movement, maybe the MRAs are better for you. Because MGTOW are just individual men who came to the same conclusion. After that cou could find other men who share your passions and build friendships with new people, while keeping in mind to never ever again give up your peace for a woman.

TL;DR: You can begin a monastery but you can’t keep one I used to have this very tight group of 3 other guys and myself. We could banter and say “offensive” things all day with no repercussions. This of course didn’t last. Others took note of how we radiated fun and it became infiltrated with women. But worse than that was when one friend (well call him Shawn) got a girlfriend. Every time the gf is nearby, Shawn changes and refuses to have fun, to be himself etc. This puts a serious strain on our initial group. I believe that you can’t be shown MGTOW and that you need to discover it yourself, and until that happens, the initial “men monastery” OP described is just a memory. As for ways to start one, be an engineer or construction worker. Yes women are still there, but you have a proportionately much larger selection pool of men there. I guess what I'm saying is that you can start a group but you can’t maintain one unless it is in secrecy (like some sort of MGTOW Underground Railroad). This is my experience and I would like to know anyone else’s thoughts.

Without some sort of agreement, pledge, or vow, to something higher than the group, it doesn't work.

It barely works with religion. It's not gonna work in a modern thirsty for women society.
