Wanted to join when I was younger, but decided not to for many reasons. If you're serious, take a deep look into the situations the military is put into, in which countries, and what the purpose of those missions are. If you agree with them, I say go for it. Personally, I liked the idea of defending my country, but I couldn't see how our intervention into many situations around the world made sense.

Be aware that the military is trying harder than ever to push feminism into the ranks. This week the Stars and Stripes were boasting about now a female Batallion Commander is taking command over an infantry unit that is slated to deploy soon. God help them.

Also, be VERY FUCKING CAREFUL dealing with ANY female marine. The female officers seemed good (from my personal experience), but apparently the "98% non-conviction rate" for SHARP claims means that SHARP investigations are not doing enough to "prevent rape and sexual assault against female service members" even though that statistically should mean that 98% of claims are total horseshit.

You are essentially walking into a minefield and assuming ALL of the responsibilities of your unit as an officer. Anythi g that haplens under your command will be your fault, good or bad. The marines when I work with them have always performed better and are FAR more disciplined than any other branch, but always always always stay on your toes.

Not a military guy, but based on the stories here, I'd advise you to stay away from impregnating or marrying a girl on base.

If you want to make the military a career I would recommend the Army over the Marines. Marines will mistreat you and will abuse you like none other. You should watch some of Terrence Popp's videos about his interactions with Marines during Iraq and how they were sent into the slaughterhouse just because.

No matter what (if you see combat or not) you still have earned the title of marine and still have gone through IOC (not one female has made it through...although many are complaining that standards are unfair lol...classic gynocracy) and I think those experiences would still be worth it even if you aren’t leading a platoon through vietnam.

I don’t want to join the Military because it’s full of entitled sluts and I don’t agree with the politics behind all these pointless wars.

If there is a invasion I would join a Militia, but fuck the gynocentric Military, I’m not carrying some worthless hoe’s little backpack, and I would never follow order from one in a trillion years.

I plan on joining the marines as an officer or going in right after high school. As for an mos I don't really know I know a lot about tanks and jets so it would be cool to be a tank driver or pilot. But I'm realistic and know that my chances of becoming a pilot are slim so I'll probably go in as 03

Yeah, I’m 33, middle class and single. I’m just bored with life and plan on joining the Army spring 2019. Hopefully the uniform will help me pump and dump hoes for the next three years.

just an observation from my experience as enlisted: do not be that asshole officer that tries to pretend he knows things. be okay with saying i dont know, and asking your non-comms for advice and guidance. do not demand respect, but earn it. remember, even tho you have a higher rank, the people under you are still adults, so treat them like one (unless they do stupid shit). dont talk about shit you dont know like you're an expert, enlisted soldiers can see thru that shit. and last of all, help your platoon work smarter, not harder, and they will gladly follow your lead the whole way. and good luck!

I am an Army officer myself, not in combat arms, but I can offer some career advice you should consider. Now, let me say that I have nothing against the Marines. They are a fine branch and I considered joining them myself.

That said, the Marines is a VERY small branch of the military. I think they are only about 250k strong. This makes things VERY competitive. You could join with the intention of making a career of it and find yourself out after 5-10 years because you were out competed by your peers.

Also, promotion is SLOW. Much slower than in the Army. In the Marines it could take you 6-8 years to make captain. I have 8 years in the Army and I just boarded for Major a few months ago.

You can still do infantry in the Army and have greater opportunity to serve a full career, i.e. 20 years, and get promoted faster. Although, I will tell you that combat arms is VERY pyramidal in structure, meaning that the higher you go faster the number of available positions decrease.

If you have any questions about being an officer I am more than happy to provide whatever insight I can.

Anyway, I just wanted to give you a little info that I guarantee your recruiter either doesn't know or won't tell you. I hope everything works out for you and Semper Fi man!
