He specifically recognizes that MGTOW abandon women because the divorce courts are very biased against men. But still thinks men should step up. Gynocentric. It never occurred to him to advocate for gender equality in the courts.

Mr Peterson revels the ugly truth behind his doctrine. The purpose of his teachings is not to promote your happiness, it's to protect society.

His real 'Truth' is the success of the species, and a vehicle for that success is some form of collaborative society. Most people, if they don't find themselves somehow aligned with the society they live within, will be crushed by that society. Unless you live a truly nomadic lifestyle far removed from any form of governing body, you'll have to find a way to exist along side of 'society'.

Now if you don't agree with his ultimate end goals of species perpetuation that's fine, but I do feel a lot of what he says has merit. Such as: a life without purpose is likely to lead to feelings of unhappiness and emptiness. So, you can absolutely cherry-pick what you'd like from his lectures on how to achieve something great for yourself and apply that towards your own end goals and I think you'll find they could be helpful.
Now if you've found your own path forward without his advice or already know all that he would instruct, then good on you. His message is more for those that haven't found that path forward yet.

I think the main takeaway could be: Freedom is meaningless if you don't use it. So, use it for your own ends. Determine what is worthwhile to you and use your freedom to move towards those worthwhile goals.

This is by no means an endorsement to take everything he says to heart. But don't throw the good away with what you determine is bad either.

He comes from a place of advocating for order in chaos. In his eyes, that is society and how the traditionalism has worked for many generations. When you have a bunch of men not helping society, it will lead to collapse and chaos will spread everywhere. That is what he means. If you're ok with that then so be it. So long as you are self aware of whats happening.

There's a shit ton of things I learned from Jordan Peterson...really helped to shake me up, motivate me, and move me forward. But I ALWAYS balked at the "get married, settle down, and have kids so society can be better" talk he gives.

The sad part? He IS right: society IS pathologized and destroyed if everyone goes crazy and/or becomes isolated. But wtf are the guys supposed to do...get MARRIED? No, sir, Mr. Peterson. No divorce rape in MY future. We are currently in a psychological version of the bubonic plague times: same way that only those who stay insolated and AWAY from the disease survived, only those men who GTOW are going to survive the current gynocentric society.

So thank you VERY much Jordan for what you taught me...but no thank you for the things you were anachronistic and unrealistic about.
