Today we call that "being a man". Which just means do something for me that goes against your own self interest, sanity, health and/or finances or else I'll use shaming language on you.

Yeah men had their duties in chivalry times, but so did women. Nowadays, women expect these "knightly" duties from men while they are free to be as feral and degenerate as possible. A gentleman should only be a gentleman to a lady, but the last lady probably died out fifty years ago.

Pretty much any warrior sect/caste/group throughout the history had a similar set of rules to follow in their life.

Honor, duty, bravery, etc.

Samurai and Bushido, Knights and code of chivalry, Spartans, etc.

This twisting it into some sort of romanticized ethos for men to chase women is utter BULLSHIT!

Huh, then i got my perception wrong on "Chivalry", all my mind imagine is guys on horses and armors piking the enemy/opposition off horse. I thought girls like to get piked with a 6ft sharp pole when they ask for chivalry. Well i guess now we have tasers and bear maces at least.

Should also be noted that knights threw the lives of their men away, while themselves expecting to be treated well, never purposefully killed, and then ransomed back home.
