Women have always possessed the capacity to trap, hurt, and destroy men in so many ways. But within the past couple of generations, society has (d)evolved to remove all consequences for them doing so. They now have zero incentive NOT to destroy your life. Of course they LOVE marriage. Why wouldn't they? There is no downside for them. And no matter where you are in your life, no matter how much you work and invest into the relationship, you will never be safe.

My own father was married over 24 years and did everything right. He was a faithful husband and good father. For two and half decades he struggled to build a home, provide for the entire family, and never complained. He came from nothing and worked his ass off to build his own little empire. She didn't work the whole time, just took care of the kids, the house, and the checkbook. Right around the time he was getting ready to retire, she decided she didn't like that situation, so she started taking classes at nursing school (paid for by him) and then met a new man at the hospital and decided to take off. She filed for divorce and financially raped him right as he thought he had succeeded. He made out as best he could the next few years until he got sick and died unexpectedly in the hospital - pretty much broke and alone.

You can work your life away with who you think is a good woman, and she can wait until near the very end and still push the big red button for cash and prizes and destroy everything you've worked for your entire life. After a certain age, you simply do not have the time or energy to come back from something like that. But women don't care -- they will destroy your world without remorse or pity. In fact, they will regard you as a fool for having put yourself in that position.

So... never put yourself in that position. It's an insane notion - handing over the keys to your life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness to a fickle creature with no incentive to care for you and no consequences for changing her mind at any time.
