There's a big difference between comforting someone and babying them. Boys definitely need acknowledgement from older men. Telling little boys to man up, and ignoring their experiences has a way of backfiring terribly.

Am I reading this correctly? Is it saying that shamed boys become angry men who have difficulty empathizing with the emotions of others (i.e., women)? Is this really saying that "men are bad, and this is one reason why"? It's late and comments aren't really addressing this point, but that's the way it reads to me.

Nah. Be stoic. Cry in private if you have to but never in public. That doesn't solve anything. Telling men to cry is just part of the ongoing effort to feminise men.
