I don't think the high cost of keeping a family is really an issue. If your average guy thought his girl would stay with him, raise kids properly and keep a decent home, he'd sign up for that even if it meant a lifetime of scraping by. That's basically the deal that all of our ancestors thought they were getting and so it's how we all got here. The fear of alimony is for real. Translated, it means that some bitch can give you none of the former benefits and then take all of your money forever while pimping out your kids to her pedo boyfriend. That's a bad deal which we can all say no to.
