We'll have you sing a song we wrote, in a studio, and edit and autotune your voice. Then we'll write the music, play the music, and you can just go on stage in skimpy ass clothes and lip-sync to it. And we'll market the whole package for you.

It's why I fucking hate pop music and the industry, and I'm thankful as fuck for the Internet for allowing me to listen to some real music. They started this shit with country music in the 80s and now, if you want to hear actual country music, you have to find it on the Internet. You will not find it on the radio.
