I've been around Thailand a few times, for extended periods and indeed, in the picture, it seems like a hell of a deal but the reality can be infinitely less pleasant imo. First of all, it seems they're incapable of keeping their mouths shut, second they tend to forget they are working for you after a while (if you decide to take this kind of options) and start acting like bitchy entitled GFs. It's clear and fair to say you're nothing but a walking ATM machine and they are very efficient when it comes to help you spending your cash. I've been lucky in this country and aside from an incident with a not-so-honest cab driver, nothing really wrong never happened to me, probably because I've been cautious but mainly because I've been lucky enough to be properly coached from the very beginning.

My suggestions: take a day-to-day renting contract, one at the time and only after due diligence in the shopping process. Do not bring expensive watches or jewelleries with you, don't flash money around, keep your valuables in the hotel's safe. If you have to withdraw money, DO NOT GO WITH THEM like this guy. Smile, behave, keep your drink/beer with you at all times, be discreet but firm, do not forget the AWALT principle and have a good time.
