I live in texas and I encounter many of these fake bravado old fashioned "chivalrous" types at work and especially in smaller towns. Usually middle aged men in their 40's and 50's who married first year out of high school or college, divorced and were ruined financially, and are now on their second marriage with some castoff divorced woman with multiple children in tow. Because that's "manning up" and marriage is the "right thing to do". They then assume all responsibilities the previous husband had (parental, financial, scapegoat etc). This means they spend 55+ hours a work at a job where they have some authority and importance (unlike at home) and getting paid a decent salary yet barely making ends meet.

Cue blue pill act#2 where they run up massive mortgage obligations and credit card debt due to the current succubus wife demands. They play "keeping up with the jones's" until they reach a breaking point and the beta simp makes a personal purchase like a boat just to keep his last shred of self identity and sanity. This of course doesnt sit well with the harpy and under threat he is forced to sell his boat and give up any form of independence and cease what is viewed as insubordination immediately. He then makes it publicly known that his wife is the "boss" and "in charge". He is chastised at work by fellow blue pill males with the happy wife, happy life nonsense. His only option is to go back to his miserable day to day existence with nothing but death to look forward too.

Seen this a hundred times. Sad world we live in.
