old people grew up in a different time. Like the saying u can't teach old dog new tricks, most of them are still stuck in the old traditional way.

I’d prefer just to end up lonely in a retirement home without experiencing getting divorce raped, falsely accused of some form of sexual deviance, abused, abandoned and / or betrayed by an ungrateful woman AND then end up lonely in a retirement home. Being on my own surrounded by senile old folk doesn’t sound that bad in comparison to all the other bullshit.

Everyone dies alone,lonely or both. No one is coming with you,in fact when someone dies in the recesses of everyones brain a voice says "better them than me". The idea that finding someone,marrying etc will magically transform their lives and before they die they'll get to have the kids around the bed and the wife holding their hand. It's fucking bullshit and I wish people would stop parroting it.

My father was married twice divorced twice had 6 kids. He was found dead on the couch with a glass of wine on the table. That's reality,anytime anywhere. Bang your gone.

Do what you want but don't do something because everyone else is. There absolutely is no right or wrong choice,only regrets and you'll have them either way so choose the ones you can live with.

“Moving out when you are X years old” is not a thing in every countries/cultures. Where I live what you’re doing is very common especially if you are working/studying in your hometown or if you are in a family business.

No need to be ashamed about living with your parents as long as you help them with the chore and maybe some water/electricity bill. As long as you’re not a freeloader , it’s all good.

When someone brings up that topic either ignore it or say exactly what you have in your mind. Just make your point and if they don’t understand then it’s not your problem.

Your dad is a simp just like mine. I still love him and respect him, he is a hard worker with many great talents. Realize the boomer generation is not only full of sell outs, they don't see the thottery or understand it as well as we do.

They are the same generation who believe in communism, feminism, pension schemes, marriage counseling.

You are not to look up to someone who does not display virtue. This doesn't mean you actively disrespect them, it means that you follow your own truth, and keep your own truth as objective as possible

On the Balkans are still present family values, unlike on the west, America for example, and it is hard for people from Balkan to imagine the life without family because we are poor. And family mostly provide support in all means. That's why maybe your father advises you to start a family.

But new times are ahead and the culture from the west is coming so it would be wise to observe their culture and adapt to it so that you may be a free man.

I had the “but what if you end up lonely?” argument put to me at dinner by my step-fathers mother, to which I replied ‘what makes you think marriage will safeguard you from loneliness? Unless you and your partner die on the same day, one of you has to die first.’

The entire dinner table raged against me, I debated 6 people against one on this point. I explained that unless you conquer the inner loneliness of your own being, nothing else is going to make a difference. Born alone. Die alone. Nobody liked that. They changed the subject. Most people can’t handle honest and thoughtful contemplation on the nature of loneliness. I’ve seen too many horror stories and witnessed so many unhappy older married people first hand to buy into that bullshit.

Focus on your career, as soon as you can move out, do so. It will improve your relationship with your parents once you have more space from them. Enjoy your freedom. Peace.
