At least in the old days, rappers would shame the heck out of you ghetto hoes and call them out for what they were. That's why I never thought rap was really that misogynist to begin with. Even the movie Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood, while satirizing hip hop and gangsta culture in general, really went after single moms, especially in the form of Dashiki the single mom with eight kids from different dads. And they poked fun at Ashtray for being a beta white knight

I don't listen to modern hip hop, but based on how many rappers marry the same hoes they despised (Jay Z, Kanye West), it seems they've gone on full feminist mode. Although metal has gone the same way. That's based on me unliking the Metal Hammer Facebook page. Seriously, every other article was about how labels didn't sign enough female bands, or how women still get sexually harassed in the scene, never mind metal contributed heavily to groupie culture, and I wouldn't be surprised if acting all gentlemanly and inclusive is just another way of getting groupies.

I don't listen to current rap, but since they're trying to switch the roles everywhere (politics, movies) I have no doubt females are trying to 'own the game' in the rap industry as well.
