Speaking from experience of going through depression, I think your need for emotional intimacy could be stemming from your depression. When I was at my worst, there was a part of me that believed a relationship would make me happy and bring me out of that hole but a relationship isn't a magical cure all device.
This is just my personal opinion but it almost sounds like your approach to a relationship is almost like taking a car for a test drive and I don't think the end result will be healthy.
I would strongly suggest either seeking professional help or finding a support group to deal with your depression and general state of mind first. Once you focus on figuring out what you want in life, if you still feel the need for a relationship then head down that path but draw a line. Figure out what you will and won't put up with and the moment you hit that line, leave.
