No idea who this guy is (because I'm dumb on the artist/arts side of things), but that is one magnificent, and eloquent painting.

What does the book say?

Who is hiding behind the Cross pushing Christ to the side?

What does it say on top of the Cross? INRI? Or EROS?

Recently I commented on this page on our sub, but decided to move the comment here instead. The brief context is that Google didn't celebrate Easter on their home page, for the 18th year in a row.

As a 'monk mode' Christian, I can truthfully say I prefer how r/MGTOW 'celebrated' (non-Orthodox) Easter, by having this Félicien Rops artist page posted all day Sunday April 1.

Why? On the Félicien Rops wikipedia page, in the Gallery section, look at The Temptation of St. Anthony (1878). Here is a direct link [NSFW] to a large version of the image.

I'm sure there's plenty of symbolism that I'm missing, but what I see is the devil pushing Christ off the cross as the object of attention, in favor of a blue pill slave attitude toward women. 'They are making God into a woman' as another user here commented.

Not all MGTOW are Christians or theists, and some are atheists. But we all agree that allowing ourselves to be taken advantage of by women, because of a misguided and mindless worship of them .. . that ain't us. We MGTOW are careful of what we decide to value, and to invest our limited attention on. So, when it comes to celebrating Easter, r/MGTOW > Google.
