Reddit admins have moved from an outright banning system, which was unpopular, to a quarantine system which gives mods a chance to change their subreddit and appeal in a month showing good faith.

reddit doesn't actually like removing subs, it removes members, pisses off the client base, and drives people away and makes them "political", which is why The_Donald isn't going anywhere at the moment.

Because that makes reddit political and the internet doesn't like politically biased places that are large.

Some of the reddits absolutely deserve to be shut down IMO, otherwise it's just 4-chan.

/r/mgtow doesn't support violence against women, recommend muder-suicide, or any of that crap like /r/incels did. I don't know exactly what TRP did to piss them off, but it probably was something about exploiting women or violating some reddit rules.

Admins contact moderators of subreddits with their concerns, which they've done with /r/mgtow before. If the admins don't get a response or moderation they want, they'll add/remove moderators and/or quarantine the sub, which really only means that posts on it don't get added to /r/all or show up in searches on reddit.

So the mods can clean up whatever the "problem" was, and be business as usual.

Can /r/mgtow be affected? Possibly, that's up to the mods. It's pretty well policed here, we tend to try to avoid politics and any real "hate". Mocking? Memes? That's not quite the same thing.

TRP was quarantined along with several alt-right type subs for excessive (((parentheses))) usage, echo parentheses are actually on the ADL antisemitism terms list, but lots of people put pressure on reddit to crack down on racism and sexism, TRP upsets plenty of feminists. I've seen several articles from progressive-type news sites that labeled TRP as extreme right wing and a gateway drug to Neo-nazism. These subs were evaluated to be potential recruitment centers for neo-nazi/nationalist/terrorist groups. Reddit tracks users across various subs, if they delete or restrict access to one sub they watch to see where the residents/regulars go after and decide if they want to tank that too, there was likely a lot of crossover between alt-right conspiracy subs and TRP.

You can be sexist or racist and get a pass, but being both - unless you're a member of the treasured Righteous Feminists Against White Men; is a reddit faux-pas. MGTOW has no ideological base, leadership, or agenda; MGTOW itself is comprised of a great diversity of men from across the world. MGTOW is kinda like an ascetic monastery that started small and rather unpopular during "the good times." As women have become increasingly unrestrained-unhinged in the modern world, there is a dramatic increase in the amount of men that want to seek refuge in the monastery.
