Women have always been the responsibility of men. In exchange for domestic labor and child bearing, men were responsible for providing and protecting this mate.

Women don't need that anymore, so there's no point in providing or protecting them.

In the past there were plenty of guys that went on to explore the world and seek their fortune. It didn't require being married to anyone to do so.

The only good thing about prior times was - if a man wanted a wife and children - things were set up a little bit better. It was a decent bargain. Both had something the other wanted. Men wanted pussy and children. Women wanted money and protection.

For the record I'm talking about 60 plus years ago.

women were encouraged to be modest
Men had all the power and control
Men had authority over women
Men controlled the money
women were encouraged to be feminine
being a wife was valued and not seen as slavery
being family oriented was considered great
women were socialized to submit to their husband for their own good
being a single mother was rightfully seen as shameful
no more feminist brainwashing
women were not socialized to act like men
there was good culture shaming/policing bad female behavior

DON'T ME WRONG I don't pine for the 50's. It's just that people understood human nature and set up society to keep their bad impulses in check. It felt 20 percent better than what we have now.

I think that Smart phones and social media did a lot to poison the well. My marriage was pretty good for the most part of 23 years. We had very good lives, but the last several years she was constantly unhappy, comparing our lives to other people on social media. She also became very vein and narcissistic, where as formerly she was always salt of the earth and level headed, all of a sudden it was selfies all day every day and constantly needing to do stuff for no other reason than to post-it on social media. Perpetual validation from an army of thirsty dudes made her arrogant and nasty. Ultimately it lead to her having an affair with an ex, getting caught, and divorce. The kids (mid teens now) can barely stand to be around her because she's become that much of self centered piece of shit. Her married lover, never left his wife for her, she's getting fat and hitting the wall (at 43), but still everyday a more selfies on FB and Insta. I had a good run. The marriage by and large was a happy one up until the last year and a half. My kids are almost grown, I have a good job, and good health at 46. After years of putting my family first It's time to live for me now. I'm never getting married again, and while I date, I'm never shacking up with anyone, and got myself fixed. Most women in my age range bring nothing to the table but sex, mostly lacking in quantity and quality. Other than sex all they bring to the table is fading looks, crushing debt, untreated mental illness, and another man's kids. I feel bad for my kids. I don't think either (the boy or the girl) will ever be able to have a normal conventional relationship at this day and age like my grandparents, parents, or I myself had (for the better part of 20 years)

Way more men were red pilled back in the old days 20's through 50's. Just check out some books and movies created during that time. So back in the day with a little bit of red pill wisdom you had the chance of having women in your life and not getting completely fucked by them/the state. Now, its only a losing game, there are no winners just people that haven't lost yet.

Yes things were better. Not good but better. For example 20 years ago we still had women who didn’t get laid, now even fat, unemploed single moms get compliments by countless men on social media.

As a result EACH year women get uglier, less caring and more entitled. Single rates as well as the rate of children born out of marriage grew massively over the years. I don’t think people are happier now when they were 30 years ago.

I appreciate a newbie like you asking such a relevant question. To put it simply, the feminist movement has done this generation of men a huge favor. The movement has revealed the true nature of women. Even the non-red pilled guys occasionally get a glimpse of the red pill and realize that being with a woman is like a playing a game that has no definitive rules; one player can change the rules anytime they want, but the other player is not allowed to do so. And if they ever question the logic behind the game, they are called sexist or misogynist. Some guys who we call simps on this sub keep playing the game even after realizing that it is rigged. But others say "fuck off, I'm done" and leave.

Now coming to back your question, a few decades ago things were different. The feminist movement wasn't around and most men were blissfully ignorant about women's true nature. Women had limited freedom back then and so, hopping from one cock to another wasn't socially permitted. Due to women's lack of option, most men were able to bag a girlfriend/wife which made them less hostile to women and less inquisitive about the female nature.

So no, male-female relationship wasn't healthy back then. Rather it had ignorance at every level. MGTOW is knowledge, it originated because men as a group wanted to know why women are so hard to understand. In the past, there was only ignorance; knowledge cannot coexist with ignorance, so MGTOW wasn't big at that time.
