The Golden Age of AAA-games is over

Now it's all about "mobile", "games as a service", "half-assed games with crucial assets being sold as DLCs", all while modding for the overwhelming majority of the titles is pretty much dead

Just compare the size of the modding community between "Battlefield 2", launched back in 2005, with any other interaction of the Battlefield series that came after it, for example

Government not rich people fuck up society.

Millennials are complaining about student loans, but they also pay taxes so that k-12 students can go to school. Why is it that one gets paid via taxation, but another is not? As a guy with no children and unmarried, I get hosed by the tax system paying for other people's children.

It's not rich people the fault, always, lies with government.

I use to be a big time gamer. I've given it the back seat. New releases are trash, and I'll always love my classic favorites that I played more than any other game but it's time to move on.

Bethesda really fucked up with 76. It's absolutely insane how they haven't come out with a new TES game.

Morrowind - 2002

Oblivion - 2006

Skyrim - 2011

New Game - ????

It's going to be 2019 in less than two months. EIGHT YEARS , almost a decade, since a true TES release. Skyrim was a huge hit with the casual gamer too. If they would have had a game that came out by 2016 I think a lot of people would have jumped on it following the success of Skyrim. Now all the gamers who loved Skyrim probably aren't even gamers anymore, which means you have to appeal to an entirely new market which means.... DUN DUN DUN.... you actually have to create a good game. It can't be trash like 76 and hope your name brand is more hype than your actual game.

I haven't enjoyed gaming since PS1. We've basically reached the death of the single player game. I hated PS2 because everything was trying to be cinematic and gritty with a dark color scheme, no color, no fun. The only reason PS2 has anything worth playing on it is because it had over a thousand games. Now Sony is abandoning PS4 before the fucking thing even has a worthwhile library (imho). The consumer is always getting nickled and dimed and I'm tired of it.
