Nerd has been coopted over the years to mean "geek".

Geeks collect comic books. Figurines. Go to conventions. Worship super hero movies. You don't have to be smart to be a geek, you just are a weirdo into cosplay.

Women who call themselves "nerds" are most often geeks. Just because you played D&D or Settlers of Catan doesn't make a nerd.

Nerds did things with computers, and not social media, they programmed things. They did chemistry. Launched model rockets. HAM radio, blew stuff up. They weren't just sitting around cos playing various X-Men and tweeting pics of themselves from ComicCon.

Girl "nerds" barely exist. If they did, you met them at CalTech or MIT, not at the comic book shop. Girl nerds don't look like hot movie stars and super models and slip some glasses on during an interview.

It is possible for a nerd to also be a geek, but they are not overlapping circles.

I'd say most girls who identify as nerdy do it as an aesthetic or facade. Like you said they aren't genuinely interested in intellectual subjects but rather want to appear smart to other people, or perhaps look different because that shit seems to be hip now. Since they are following a trend they end up looking the same therefore it's self-defeating in itself. They'll have similar make-up, clothing, haircut, and glasses. Not saying some girls don't have niche interests but generally speaking I notice most girls that I know do it as a fashion trend wearing clear lens glasses without prescriptions as a means to deceive people into thinking they're intelligent. Come to think of it, only know of one girl who is a genuine nerd. She's obsessed with science and she knows her stuff, and ironically she doesn't look like a stereotype. Then on the other hand I know of two girls who bought glasses because they think they look hip and smart.

Just remember that the nerds and geeks get to be CEOs, start companies and invent shit. They're the ones who create their own destiny and yet end up being chased by used up thot single mums and wall hitters once they've "had their fun".

I'd rather be a nerd with success and wealth than a Chad who's glory years were in high school and college, yet never really moved on from there.

I would argue computer games and comic books are more interesting than meaningless gossip with a hoe at a nightclub. Most women aren't genuine nerds...they are just being trendy to latch onto wealthy men.

I have been thinking about this for couple of years now, I am quite nostalgic for the nerd culture of the 80s-90s, mainly highly intelligent men who have been cast away by mainstream generic society to form their own hierarchical sub culture which is based on competence.Today's meaning of a nerd is basically a soy boy Hillary voting lefty cuck, which I find irritating as fuck.
